I had an uneasy scary feeling in an abandoned building once...

I took a dump and I felt better.

I'll leave if I'm worried about a security risk, or a sensitivity issue such as an evictee who isn't so happy about my presence. But as far as unsettling creepy feelings go, I live for that shit.

Word. I continually try to push my exploring envelope so that I'm at the edge of my skills or environment. That trickle of fear/adrenaline can be addictive.

My first explore I was in a house that was very open to the elements and the upstairs bedroom door kept opening and slamming shut, each time I did I would jump..finally I got mad, stomped up the stairs and yelled *SHUT THE **** UP and made sure that door stayed closed

Nothing makes people more nervous than their friend acting super nervous.

Holy crap is that ever true! One time, my sister and I went to this place in the middle of the night with no flashlights. She had been there before several times, but started breathing kinda heavy...it was like someone in a movie waiting for whatever terror they knew was about to jump out (does that make sense to ANYONE? I don't know how else to explain it.)

Anyway, in the dark, that sound just got in my head and freaked me the fuck out. I kept telling her to stop breathing as if we were about to get murdered!

And to add to the original topic, there was one time I was scared and didn't even go in a location.
I had gone to an (obviously) abandoned house one night, and went around back to look for a way in. There was junk all over the yard and I saw what I thought was a statue of a sitting dog. Then I took a step and found out it was a real dog. It didn't move at all, but it started growling. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me as I stared at this dog, silent again and still not moving. Another step, another motionless growl.

We left, and I felt bad for the dog. House in the middle of nowhere during the winter. I didn't know if it was actually being cared for in any way. I still pass this house quite often, and I wonder what happened to that poor lil guy.

Christ almighty, I really ramble on and on sometimes. Sorry bout that.

the uneasy scary feeling is why i do this. the rush i get being alone in scary dark places where you feel you could easily succumb to many things is great. i get amped entering and pretty much stay that way till shortly after i start the car and pull off. being alone means its me vs the building. im most alert and "scared" doing these 2 things. 1 being up really high and when im in dark places i hate going through doors etc im not a great writer so its hard to explain. i always feel like someone is around the corner waiting lol. honestly i hope this doesnt get better with time as ive said because its probably medically like a high when i go in there. im sure my brain is releasing all types of cool shit like adrenaline and endorphins. ill keep doing this until the thrill is gone and that will be a sad day as i feel like im on to something

Ugh. I can't explore alone, I just don't have the balls. Its not that I don't like the dark, its the feeling of isolation mixed with super paranoia, and a way overactive imagination. My first exploration was an abandoned house under a highway and after walking really far into the house's basement there were a bunch of dolls and a pair of children's tap-dancing shoes in a corner. There wasn't the fight or flight instinct, there was the 'well, f*ck' instinct followed by me thinking I heard footsteps on the stair across the room. Place was dark as hell because I only had my phone for light (stumbled across the house unprepared, it was all I had) and I ended up booking it out while convinced that there was someone RIGHT behind me, because the echoes thrown up off the concrete made it sound like people were running a few feet back.
I like fear based adrenaline rushes when I'm with two other people, but otherwise I end up messing with myself and not enjoying the location as much as I could. And the pics always end up looking shitty cause I'm too freaked out to spend time adjusting aperture/focus.

You just have to expose yourself to it. I was scared at first...of everything. Getting arrested, the dark, the sounds, the vibes, etc.

I also used to be afraid of spiders. Terribly afraid. I began touching dead spiders. I began picking up dead spiders. I began touching and handling the small and less scary live ones. I moved up further and now they inspire no negative feelings.

Today I find spiders to be an interesting specimen, actually quite pretty. You could shoot an asylum alone, you just need to start faking it first.

I've been to five places so far, four houses and one demolished corrections facility. Each place that I have been to I had the feeling of fear and the adrenaline rush, even going no further then the fence at the corrections facility.

At one of the houses I explored the only entry was through the basement. I had told myself I would never go into a basement because of fear, but once I was there my curiosity was stronger than my fear and I went in with nothing but a camera and my phone for a light. As mentioned by AVE PITA, it was hard to take pictures because I was too nervous. All the pictures came out blurry.

The fear and adrenaline rush were awesome feelings. I'm sad that with more explorations the feeling will go away.

hahahaha this is awesome, literally laughed outloud

anyway I feel like the fear is the reason I do it... It's that sense of adrenaline that I just can't live without. A drug of choice, if you will

I went draining once by myself and had that someone is behind me paranoid feeling. I was hearing music playing and laughter in the back ground, lets just say that was the last time I ever went draining alone.

Lol, the fear is complicated. Too much fear makes me shoot terribly but not enough makes me lose focus. I try to keep baseline adrenaline as much as I can, like a balancing act.

Pigeons are surprisingly terrifying sounding

Pigeons are indeed pants-shittingly terrifying under the right conditions, but my worst experience ever with pigeons is hilarious compared to what the fuck I did when I saw in the distance this:

That was taken while I was about a mile and a half (give or take) up a drain. It was near a water plant, and that was a manhole entrance that branched off from the main shaft at about a 25 degree angle. After so long in the dark down there, I saw those two bright lights from down the tunnel (daylight through the slits in the cover), and I flipped right the hell out. I didn't notice the ladder rungs, I thought it was some kind of cave and a creature living in it. It was pretty dark and my eyes weren't properly adjusted. I dropped my bag, (camera was around my neck, thankfully) and ran as fast back down that tunnel as I could for about three hundred feet. Then I realized that it was just the light from a cover entrance. I laughed at myself, dumped the water out of my boots, and went back to my bag. I thought for sure it was Cthulu or something.
To this day I try and stay away from solo draining, but it's still a crazy rush.

Haha yes Therrin, I know of the magical flashlight. In my time as a drainer I have come to understand the wonders of these tubes of light. At the time I was still relatively green to the sport and was using my Ipod for light.

...who does that? an IPOD?? FOR LIGHT???

Most people use those for music. Next thing I know you're gonna use a banana as a defensive tool.

Actually those old classic ipods, with the touch wheels, if you turned the brightness up to max, had INSANELY bright screens!

So, it's a step up from a cell phone screen!

My cell phone has a flashlight app, so can an iPod also be manipulated to turn the entire screen as bright as possible?
