Nice weather, and lots of reading
< on 5/24/2011 1:40 AM >

So the weather is getting warmer, and I've been putting more and more miles on now that I don't have to wear a full suit to keep my nads from freezing off. How's spring treating everyone so far?

I've also been catching up on a lot of reading I missed over the winter at ADVRider and KLR650.net as well which usually gets me even more pumped to ride. Any other ADV inmates here?

Here's to gnats in yer nose!

Here in cali I've been riding all winter. We are spoiled here. I had to put on thermals & my full leather gloves(no mesh) on a few night rides. Still have "Never" had to close my helmet vents

Wow, you lucky duck.

Things are finally starting to get hot here, which is nice, but usually just leads to balls humid weather later on. I tried to ride as much as I could this past winter but things this year were tough with the snow and winter maintenance on the bike. I can go down to 27 degrees on my 35 mile commute to work, but any colder and my hands start hurting too bad(no heated grips here). Looking forward to some nice relaxing Sunday rides now. Can't wait for the puddles to dry up a little more either!

When I start reading Ride Reports on ADVrider I can't stop. Shit's addictive!

A little over a month since I have been back to riding a couple times a week. About 1200 miles and counting since I unplugged the tender and dusted the bike off.

I went for a 2 hour night cruise two weekends back and it was awesome.

When are we doing our UE cruise man?!

I've got an 88mi commute along Pacific Coast Hwy. 44mi each way, at 6am it can be wet and cold. At 3:30pm it's deadly...............Bikinis, Thongs, super short shorts, tank tops, nipples......I've almost died quite a number of times.

I must be a huge pussy, cause my hands are numb by the time I get to work. And anything over 50mph and I'm closin' my face shield.

My dad just invested in heated grips so he may have gone pussy too. I do close the face shield at highway speeds.

science talkin type guys tell you theres no windchill above 50F

let them ride 70 mph for 6 hours at 52F and see who gets chilled

I used to ride in anything but ice or snow, now once it gets much below 40F Im not good for more than a quick spin around town of an hour or so just sucks too much heat out of you

Haha, nice additions above.

Someone was just telling me a story the other day about an enduro ride that had some girl flashing the riders at one of the really technical spots and guys were going down left and right. Distractions are bad!!

Yeah, those ride reports are some good reading. I actually spend a lot of my free time reading through stuff on there. Here's a link to what might be one of the craziest RR's I've ever read.

Catalog - yeah man. Not this weekend but the next I am good to go. My wife has been having a lot of her friends over on Sundays so things have been getting a little more lenient. I was actually able to get out for most of the day Sunday and ride the Pines. Weather was perfect.

Yep. Whenever I win the lottery or inherit some great wealth or get a decent and travel-accomodating job (A wise relative once said there are three reasons to be a teacher: June, July, and August) I am going to go on some epic ADV style adventures.

I drool over people's KLR's KTM's, GS's etc... the beautiful women, cheap delicious food, and wonderful beachside or mountain living. The freedom of a light pack and an open road... I really want to head south to Central America via Mexico... hey, if you can make it down to Venezuela, 10 cents a gallon for gas

Yeah man, I hear that. To be able to tour the world, let alone just the USA, would be such an amazing trip. To literally see just how big this vast country is. Swinging in hammocks, drinking beer, camping, great food, and so much to see from coast to coast. Actually, a friend of mine took his Buddy 125cc scooter from South Jersey to California and said it was absolutely the trip of a lifetime. Hmmmm, when's my next time off? Lol

Damn I can't believe I never checked to see if there were any riders on this site before...

Hey all, El Explorador signing in on my trusty KilLeR 650.
Here's some great reading

I'm taking the road south from Ottawa in May, spend a year or so touring the Americas. Right now just getting my ride running again, and living vicariously through tellers of tall tales.
