How many people have blown/killed up a 50mm 1.8 or any lens in general?

A post vadder made in the "what lens do you use" thread got me thinking about this.

I know more than a few around here have post your pics I've killed one that landed on rocks while attached to my XSI. A friend actually dropped it and felt terrible thought he'd killed the whole camera (not a photo/camera type) he quickly ordered me a new one. It separated the whole glass element from the mount and the auto-focus wires sheared off too. It hit so hard the barrel actually broke in several places too. It was a total loss except the filter and caps. The body was fine.

I recently dropped my new one at abandoned church it wasn't attached to a body. I had it on the seat of my truck, went to grab something else and knocked it out. To make matters worse my truck is lifted 8in and on 38's so it fell pretty far. Picked up the 2 pieces didn't really look at them assumed it was screwed just threw them in my bag and went shooting. Came home and snapped it back together works like new couldn't believe nothing got seriously hurt. Realized later that there was a piece of grass inside still that worked its way out when it was rotating for AF. Took it apart again (carefully) and cleaned the insides snapped it back together still works great and is sharp as ever.

For as craptastic as these things are built I'm pretty impressed with the beating they can take and still make a good image.

If you've killed one or any other lens for that matter post up with your story/pictures.

This is a very common problem, Google it. My lens was refurbished too, so probably already happened once it happened with a 4' fall from kitchen counter onto linoleum floor:

How to fix:

My 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 fell off my body and hit the ground rolling from the same height onto carpet covered concrete (friend's basement level dorm room) ... absolutely nothing, 90's EF film lenses are fucking tough.

Yeah I knew it was a pretty common thing I've seen a few do it. We need more pictures of the carnage, I'll have to see if I've got pictures of the one I killed.

But the OLD EF line is super tough I landed on my 28-135 from a few feet up (i'm about 200 lbs) and it was perfectly fine I couldn't believe it. I hit so hard I had a bruise of the hot shoe on my hip where the camera got me. A lot of my weight had to been put on the mount
