Welcome! I'm writing this down because I noticed new people tend to comment on the same things the first time they stop in. If you join us, be prepared for the following:
-discussions about mature subject matter including political, sexual, and often personal content
-people who appear to be angry who really just want the best for you: Remember, you're not the first new person to come into chat, and unfortunately a lot of new people before you said and did dumb things and we've heard it all a hundred times. That doesn't mean we don't want you there, it just means following a few guidelines and the basic rules of the board will get your farthest:
DO NOT ASK FOR LOCATIONS
DO NOT ASK FOR PERSONAL INFORMATION
DO NOT BE A JACK ASS
DO NOT SPAM CHAT WITH THE SAME QUESTION OVER AND OVER AGAIN - just because we don't answer doesn't mean we didn't read it. We may be discussing something important (hey it happens) Just pm one of us or wait a few minutes until chat dies down and ask again.
-private channels exist and often one or more of them is open. Joining one uninvited is likely to get you kicked. This is because groups of locals who explore together or people with common interests often divide into their own channels so they don't flood general chat with off-topic conversation. Do NOT be offended if you try to join and they kick you - you may not meet the criteria for the channel
-it's nice to be able to click on your profile and see that you have an introductory post on the boards before we all become friendly and chit-chatty with you. This isn't mandatory, only a suggestion.
-There is almost always a moderator or five in chat to help you out with whatever you need. Have a question that seems embarrassing or dumb? Ask one of them in private and they have to help you out (it's in their contracts ;P) Some of the regulars include Keti, Astro, Archer, DJCraig, etc.
-If anybody from the site gives you a hard time, again, talk to one of the moderators. It doesn't matter how long you've been here, we all have the same rights, and sometimes the regulars (even me) cross the invisible line.
-DON'T BE SURPRISED WHEN WE AREN'T TALKING ABOUT EXPLORING - believe it or not, the subject does arrive from time to time.
PS- I'm nicer than I pretend to be.
