Been working out of town had no time to UE or connect with people. What's new?

Very little new, it seems. I'm starting to get the feeling that we Edmonton explorers are few and far between. Is this indicative of a lack of locations, a more secretive attitude by participants, or are the local explorers simply unaware of the UER?

There's fuck all in this city after most of the good shit got torn down, and what's remaining, active or abandoned, are burned in no time by BASE jumping fucksticks or are locked down from the start, or are infested with aggressive bums.

I've transitioned to the rural side of things and try to do road trips to BC when I can but it's hard to afford that kind of luxury when oil is where it's at.

I've been broadening my scope a bit lately as well. So far I've had little luck with the spots within striking distance. As you say, everything of real interest is too far to hit up conveniently. Some interesting prospects in southern Alberta though.

Also the fact security is now people just pulled out of their trailer parks with the trailer just parked all over the site.

Some abandonments I encountered this summer; the bottom may or may not be redeveloped by now. Curious as to whether anyone has been able to access the top location as security seems to be slightly above average.

I tired to get in top pic location a few years ago but I couldn't find an "ethical" entrance. Lots of hobos in the area, it needs to be kept tight.

No kidding about everything good in Edmonton getting torn down. And anything that they can tear down but haven't, is probably slated to be, and they usually have security patrolling it till they do.

Read about it in the paper too. This is the solid reason why there's so little abandoned stuff to explore, its only active infiltrations.

I also heard that land is taxed less if it sits in an inactive state (buildings/infrastructure are demolished).

Well they do mention that a "dozen need immediate attention, and 30-plus still need to be dealt with" so there's clearly stuff out there to find.

I just wish they had attached a list of properties, to inform people so they can avoid looking at them...
