Drain boarding is the technique of bringing a skateboard (drain board) with you when you go draining. You lie on the board and use your feet to propel yourself off the walls or your hands to drag yourself forward. Advantages- No pain on knees or elbows, quickens lengthy tunnels, no more army crawling painfully, you get much less dirty, it's just plain fun. Disadvantages- You have to lug around a skateboard when you're not in the drain, it can get stuck on mud, rocks, or crap in the drain, some tunnels are too small to drain board in, some drains have ridges which make drain boarding near impossible. Tips/Pointers- Bring a drain board that's low to the ground and rolls smoothly, bring cushioning to put on your board because lying down on it is often uncomfortable, bring a board you're not particularly fond of (it will get messed up), and if you can't drain board, you can always resort to knee pads. |
