how bout that indeed? I was under the impression the first YZ series was a mono shock design

that looks a lot like a DT1 DT2 frame and the tire looks like a desert bike but that little tank says MX

too bad we're the only experts enjoying this thread you are educating me sir

sometime maybe another thread you'll have to regale me with how you got started in racing etc, I was a failed racer got a novice tag for one event only had to hide the fact I was racing from my parents!

This is Kenny Roberts old TZ750 dirt tracker, they shoe horned in his world championship road course 2 stroke motor. What a fricken monster!!!!
Kenny said it had so much power he couldn't keep the wheelspin down in order to go straight.

In one race he came around the last corner in third place, in a last ditch effort he screwed on the throttle, came out of the corner sideways, drifted to the top of the track, passed two harleys while sideways up at the hay bales, and won the race!! He said that there was bailing wire wrapped around his footpeg, from the hay bales he was hitting at 130MPH. Talk about nuts.

I started racing on a 1970 AT1 125cc in 1972, what a pile. Mostly desert races,
a few motocross events. Continued moving up in classes and standings till I got my first number one plate........ Shit.... Sorry!! Continued moving up in classes till I figured out that, I was not bullet proof, I was not as good, or as fast as I needed to be, I couldn't afford both rent and racing. Now I just play ride.

They had the CB350 twin for many years, rode a few of those! Then they came out with a 350cc four, little 89cc cylinders, that motor was so smoothe, they bumped it up to a 400cc displacement after a year or so.

I can't even recall ever seeing one in person, all my buddies were into Harleys, Kawi Z1R's, or RD and Daytona 400's.

Found another old Harley factory motocrosser, this one is a '75, check out the rear forks.

nice find Id say its an Aermacchi as well, the rear shocks look like an adaptation of something non motorcycle wow!

Remember 1975 was the year that the long travel suspension revolution began, as shock length grew, so did the need for extra capacity resivores, to combat the problem of shock oil overheating and aeration, some resivores were remote, some were added to the shock body itself. Looks like the boys at Harley were aware of this and adapted front forks to the rear, this added a lot of extra oil capacity for cooling, and probably helped to dial in, preload, dampening, rebound, as forks seem to be easier to re-valve than shocks.

Here we are cruisin' along on our big 100 horsepower street bikes, and then you see a family of four puttin' along on something with 7 horsepower, I'll never complain about my bike again!!!

For some reason I thought that was a family heading off to market, I see know that it is four good folks off to Kathy Lee Giffords shirt factory!!

I saw some you tube video of a third world mechanic shop, the master wrench was picking pistons up off the dirt floor, blowing them off by mouth and puttin'
'em in any hole they fit in. I thought I was the only one that did that??

that looks exactly like my 250 CZ motor a fast fast fast running engine close ratio 4 spd trans but it wore out breaker points every 3-4 hours

mine was in an after market frame, Cerani forks, Bilstein? shocks Preston Petty fenders and tank

and cant find no photos of it

guy I sold it to invested in a CDI ignition (Motoplat?) then proceeded to seize the engine up I ran across it years later in a cycle salvage yard

nothing is more depressing than motorcycle junk yards except maybe outdated motorcycle junkyards

we had one here called Bates the stiff sent out in the rain and got even more useless they went out of business

me and Barry Kooda came across this apparently abandoned motorcycle junk yard

Looks like Midnight Cycle Supply to me. your find is much better than mine, did you notice the old orange frame/white plastic KTM sittin' in my photos?
I think that was like the KTM 495 I had posted earlier in this thread?
