Contact Information
< on 3/24/2009 11:35 AM >

All right, folks. I would like everyone going to send me a PM here with some information.

Your real name
Cell phone number
Emergency contact number and their name
Allergies (food, medication, etc)
Medical issues you may have
With whom you're traveling

With large meets like this, the chance of someone getting hurt goes up quite a bit, and I can speak from personal experience when I say having this info and not needing it is WAY better than needing information and not having it. I promise I'll get rid of your info as soon as the meet is over.

Thanks a lot!

Should we all have our permission slips signed in triplicate too when we arrive?

No but this is a good idea as shit happens in large groups...Someone gets arrested and we need a emergency contact (with a credit card) as Paisely can't come bail us out... ( sorry if I spelled your name wrong >.<)

I didn't realize this would cause problems.

I'm not worried about bailing you out. I'm not going to use any information you give me to see where you're, why you're running late, or to rat you out to your moms.

If you get hurt, seriously hurt, no one in our group is able to make medical decisions on your behalf because we're not family. The hospital doesn't even have to update us on your condition. Having an emergency contact number on hand prevents the need for digging through your cell phone/wallet/laptop trying to find someone. If you have an allergy to a medication, the paramedics can pass that on to the hospital and they can alter your care plan based on that information.

With big meets like this, we're putting a lot of trust into people we don't know very well. I'm not trying to coddle you, and you're all free to go on with your assumption that you're invincible and will live forever, but I know if I fell down a hole, I'd want my family to know.

Wasn't there a specific case at a past meet where this sort of information was needed? Some emergency? Seems like an important thing to do.

I support the information sharing....I sat in a waiting room with a cut off finger for hours due to not passing info along

Yeah, that was why I said "I can speak from personal experience".

And I was just being snarky.

By the way I have those permission slips filled out...

I would never send information like that anybody on this forum. Too much risk involved. Sorry Sara.

*Swiffer sends requested information to Mrs. Bellum*
