Single SB-800 on the floor behind the bars set to Manual, 1/64 power triggered by a D300, using Nikon CLS. Some exposure adjustment in LR.

Looks pretty smooth! How did you find it, compared to your existing approach (flash?)

I took this last night, and wish I'd done something to light it - it's just a bit flat to my eye:

I like this one as it is...I don't think it really needs anything else at all!

As for the X2000...it's really quite amazing. Unbelievably powerful, especially for it's size, and the focusability is awesome. I really love it.

You asked how I like it versus my existing approach (flash). Actually, I've always used both flash and flashlight. For some things the strobe is supreme, but in many cases the flashlight works better, allowing you to be more selective about where the light is placed.

Four flash pops with a diffused, tungsten-gelled flash, from each of four doorways to the left. There was tungsten streetlight from the right, through the windows. Now, if I'd only had a more interesting composition...

Also no.5 is awesome. Top effort with the 2nd level also being internally lit? Did you have help or were you running around through the duration of the exposure like a madman?

Hey, I like the way your gel-painted drains are going! Nice to see someone other than Curly going crazy with the colours underground. Is that light trail from your trusty headlamp?

Thanks man. Yeah, in #5 I was pretty much stumbling around inside there like an idiot in complete darkness. Fortunately, the top floor is open, so I could point the flash straight up to the roof from the lower floor.

Cheers mate, yeah trying to find a balance between documenting the drain through photographs and art

Really just trying a few techniques to get a feel for things. I'd like to develop sort of a style that's a little more unique to myself after that. Trial and error until then my friend!

Oh, yeah my trusty 4-LED Petzl. It was intentional to use it in the photo hence the zig-zag of my waving my head around

My first time out with the my new Stanley 3-in-1 tripod flashlight in a new drain

1 light down the stepirons, the other in the small pipe, and 1 reflecting off the pool of water.

1 light in the right pipe, 1 down the stepirons and 1 shining upwards at the ceiling

2 still on the tripod and 1 down the stepirons.
