Ive got a K75 also, 1986 black,

working on the fuel system right now, couldn't
afford a Bosch fuel pump, so I adapted one from a mustang. Got it running with the pump submerged in a can of fuel, fuel rail and injectors need cleaning, and I need to fix a hole in the tank, but I'll get her goin' sometime.......

How does yours do on the highway?

what version do you have, mine has about 70,000 miles (12k by me) on it and runs like a top.

Its great on the highway, though it revs high. Usually about 6000-6500rpms around 80. But is smooth like butter, so I don't mind.

im thinking about putting in progressive springs in the front. it's something like $75 for a pair

I think mine is just the plain K75, it does have an aftermarket sport fairing, pretty small and turns with the forks.

I know a guy that rode his from Los Angeles to Alaska, he bought a larger diameter rear tire and that helped the revving issue, but you will lose a bit of steam regarding off the line acceleration.

Mine has 30,000 miles on it, real nice shape, has the side bags and tail rack, I also removed the splash guard, and lic plate, it do look cleaner.

I have a Triumph speed triple, it spins 5000rpm at 90mph, these three cylinder models like ours, are supposed to have the low end grunt of a twin, but also be able to rev like a four.

Im thinking about doing that tire thing. It's almost time for a new rear anyways.

Some progress shots of my '90 600 Ninja

It's current state:

Notice the cleaned-up tail:

Just ordered a new exhaust manifold (I have a crazy idea for it and didn't want to chop the 1-4 up)
And some LED strips to run along the front & rear frame rails...

Didn't know where else to post this, so you guys get stuck with it. I got a new camera, and was playin; with adjustments and settings. Took a look at my speedy triple sittin' there, the lighting was nice and she looked so purty.

Here is a few test shots.1.

SD, yours looks just as uncomfortable as mine for a long trip.

I rode two hours on it once!!!!!!! Now If I'm gonna go on longer trips I'll take my old XV750, she's slower, heavier, gets worse milage, but at least I don't feel like I got drug thru a knothole backwards.

Some great looking bikes in here. I'm really a fan of those old thumpers. I have my heart set on restoring a Honda CL360 or 350 one day... when I have a garage or shed maybe. Here's my current ride, a modded 2006 KLR650. Bought it in 2008 with 178 miles. It's just under 23,000 right now. I love this thing, and it gets me to some cool UE spots sometimes. It's easy to hide in the woods.

Happy riding

That KLR tank is the largest I've seen, 7 or 8 gallons I'm guessin'.

Plus another 10gal in jerry cans. So 28 gallons of fuel? @40 or so miles per gallon? You can really get lost with that type of range.........I'm thinkin' 200 pounds of fuel?

Ha, yeah that thing is huge - 7.1 it think it's rated, but only around 6.8 is usable. I get around 310 miles before reserve, and another 40-50 until it's done.

Those jerry cans are actually panniers - no fuel in there that would be crazy, especially next to the exhaust! They're a little on the heavy side, but they were the el-cheapo deal as far as storage. lol

I don't know how I came up with 28gal of fuel with those jerry cans? It would be 17gal of fuel, still a large load........but those things are cool used us panniers.
