I understand the mindset but Im too old to get in the spontaneous fights that would erupt over a purple w/peace symbol (or pink striped) scoot in Texas.

But I do gotta problem with your garage. Im jealous of it!

Nice work space set up man.

I'm gonna guess at a 11.70 ET. @122MPH?

I'm always late to these bike threads.

I'm not a Harley guy. Owned one, hated it, sold it, end of story. I will avoid showering shit on you guys that do like them, as I will admit they do look nice. I'll just sit here and enjoy the pics.

You really are always late to these!!!!
How are those Swedish shitpiles of yours running?
I've got 3 down due to clutch issues, WR400, and 2-XC500's
My OR390 and a CR400 are the only ones workin' right now.

Mostly torn apart. I don't ride once the daytime temps get down under 45 or so. At those temps, its time to ski instead. Winter is time for bike restoration! Painting the Ninja, piston rings in one 390CR, total teardown on the 74 Penton, blah, blah, blah. I'm even considering getting my old college bike running (81 Yamaha 400 Special II). Drove it into the spot where it is sitting 15 years ago and walked away.

cant convince ANY of my hardass HD riding buds to get on the dirt (mostly mid life guys fraid they might fall off boo hoo hoo)

Im being relegated to tryin to teachin the old lady to trail ride and razooing the neighborhood and city parks on the XR 600 until I can get enough time to go to Muenster or Rocky Ridge pay to play stuff)

Jonsered you must not have ridden one of the later model big twins 88cu or larger or maybe you were born without the torque gene

getting on the freeway ramp hittin 80mph in 3rd gear dont get no better on the street

I will however admit that if I won the Lotto I might consider a compromise like a BMW or KTM dual sport to do some splorin cuz my little Hog aint got much ground clearance and dont like the mud

My ol' '65 Sporty just sits and looks real cool in the garage. I'm thinkin' I'll work on it this winter.

I just bought a new set of tires for my Triumph, Holy shit $305.00 for two Pirreli's that are only gonna last 8000 miles, was a little bit of a shock... And I shopped and got 'em on sale......

I wonder how Nicksan's Harley comin' along? It was lookin pretty cool last I saw it, He got a little cranky when I teased him about the color!!

Maybe he'll see this and post a photo or two. I'ma Skeerd to ask him.

I do like torque. I ride open class dirt bikes for just that reason. The HD in question was an 83 or so Sportster. Won it in a poker game. I know its not a REAL Harley, but....DID NOT LIKE. Constantly broken, things vibrating off, etc. Steered like a cement truck and my kidneys will never forgive me. My Ninja is a 97 250. I commute back and forth from Alamo to El Paso on it. Runs perfectly all the time. 72 mpg on the highway. In 5 years I have replaced plugs, air filter, chain and a tail light bulb. I don't care for Jap bikes, in fact I ride only European dirt stuff, but the rice burners do run well.

You just don't hear that term OPEN CLASS much any more, nuthin' like an open class Euro trash 2 stroke. Kick it, clean it out, knock it into gear, dump the clutch, and start shiftin' hang on thru the sideways wheelies, Your nuts will eventually drop back down into place.

I've got a Maico 440 that I've never ridden, maybe this winter?

ended up 6" over stock. needed after a scorpion clutch up grade. yes it keeps the thing from flipping over. carries the front an inch or two for 60 feet. launch @3500 rpm. very "sudden"
best et was 6.009 in the 1/8th. @ 108 mph, did a 1/4 once at texas motor plex, they put a stop to the 1/4 after a fuel bike crashed. iirc 137 mph. didnt get a time slip so i dont have the et but the "shut down" was a bitch. nearly "stepped off" after a wicked scary tank slap.

oh theyre real Harleys just went through some crap production under AMF the quality suffered on all HD until about 88 89 when they turned things around

I cant defend their performance against Jap bikes I mean when was the last time you bought a great performing American made camera?

funny thing about performance how the HD 750 dominated AMA dirt track for decades whats a little oil leak here and there, but would I choose to commute on one? not if I had any reasonable choice but I wouldnt commute on my old CZ or Ducati from that era either!

Ya know, I'm really diggin' that XR1200, you mentioned it months ago, and I just got around to lookin' one up on YouTube. Those things are BadAss, quite the racing heritage behind the styling of them, 90 horsepower off the showroom floor, a little more of an upright seating position than my Speed Triple, a little less power, but not much less. Think I'd like to sit up at the end of the straight, throw all 600 pounds of her into the corner sideways. Throttle up feet up, sideways.............

All the way to the point of impact....................

and its less expensive than a used XR 750

the XR 1200 was scheduled to be released in Europe only but protests from fans and sales execs caused them to relent

I sat on one at the dealership seemed top heavy after putting around on a softail

I fuckin' love that thing Nick, Flat black/rat roddy, just enough chrome to look cool, not to much chrome that needs to be polished for two hours every sunday...........Sweet shotguns, stretch tank should add some range. Although your kidneys and prostate might hate you.

Those short bobbed rear fenders make me nervous, I've ended up under mine a couple times on the dirt bikes.

Dig it, stay safe.
