Like Abby, my primary handheld is a Solarforce L2p w/ Thrunite XML 3mode dropin. I used to run it on single 18650 but now using a body-tube extension I run 2x18650 to get a higher input voltage (and it makes the light a bit longer to hold onto).

Then I got a Surefire diffuser for it, which basically means I spent $60 on a flashlight and $60 on a diffuser to put on it. However, after having used several of the crappy diffusers out there, I have to say I really like mine. It is also compatible with the Fenix HP20/HP11 headlamps.

My primary headlamp is the same kind that Abby uses, built by the same friend over in England.

It has a Flood LED & Spot LED, both of which have 3 brightness settings, the highest of each draws an amp. Then it has two pilot LED's which will continue to run for a few days even when the voltage on the pack has dropped to low to run even the lowest modes on the spot & flood main emitters.
Also using the Turnigy AccuCell 6 charger for my LiIon packs, and can power it using either 120VAC or 12VDC inputs.

Before that I was primarily running Fenix's HP10 and some HP20's.

Here is a photo of the light mounted on my helmet. It's an Oldham head that has been rebuilt for LEDs. The rotary switch on the right side selects one of the three light options. My favorite feature is the ability to choose between a spot beam and a wide angle beam. I personally use the flood lamp for the majority of my exploring, but switch to the spot when in large chambers or looking down shafts.

Great light. 4AA will last you for weeks of solid use.

I'm really surprised that more people don't use Maglite. I love my Maglight, and I've seen a lot of other explores having them as well. I've got a Mini Mag and a 3D Mag. The only thing is I wish the batteries would last a little longer. I have though about getting an LED one, but I love the ability to turn my minimaglight into a "candle" is too sweet to loose.

this is what I use, never owned a stronger more durable flashlight in my life, the clip on the back is most convenient for when you need to go hands free climbing up/down a ladder or traversing a stairwell. it's taken its share of falls and being pushed through the dirt. always satisfied. always carry spare batteries as well.

made by streamlight, expensive but worth it.

Am currently using a Black Diamond Zenix IQ headlamp and a Fenix LD22 R5. The Zenix IQ was a carryover from outdoors pursuits, and the LD22 was the more recent acquisition. Based on the latter's outstanding performance in output, beam pattern, efficiency, and ability to remember the last brightness setting, I'm picking up a Fenix HL30 R5 as well. Finding a good 2xAA (or even any sort of even-numbered battery count) headlamp is neigh impossible these days. And a few years of efficiency improvements have come between the Luxeon of the Zenix IQ and the R5-bin CREE of the HL30. If it's anything like the LD22, I'll be very happy.

I use 2 primary lights, Both Streamlights.

Streamlight Stinger Classic with C4 LED head, with spare battery. Great long life. Couple hours of continuous light, which is a good compromise of high intensity light and battery life. Cost was about $150 with 2 batteries and piggyback charger.

Streamlight ProTac HL, runs of CR123 batteries, has high and low modes, and lights stuff up about twice as bright as police spot lights. Down side is the damn aluminum casing gets up to about 125 degrees in a matter of 6-7 minutes if left on. It's really more for when you need a whole shit load of light in a hurry. Also works great for blinding the crap out of people. Cost was about $90.

Btw, the ProTac HL batteries barely last an hour and are more expensive than drugs. I buy them in bulk from a Chinese Ebay seller.

This little Nebo CSI edge I bought on a whim at a store counter once. I have had it for 5 years now and I think just changed the battery for the first time ever last months. Plenty bright and slightly bigger than chap stick. Thing rocks.

Then I also use this Smith and Wesson Galaxy 28 LED flashlight I bought because I needed a red light for the military. Also a great light. The white LEDs are very bright and the red ones are also bright enough to see well and preserve night vision. Thing is also built solid as a rock.

Finally I have an energizer 3 LED headlamp. Also really cheap, like $15. Bought it for map reading and works well when my hands are busy but I am not a headlamp lover. Also the thing always turns on in my pocket.

Here's the one I use. It's a Jetbeam BA10, runs on a AA and throws out 160 lumens, with a simple on off push button and a simple hi-low feature.

Here it is with a Maglite AA and a decent cheapy from Sportsmans Warehouse CR123:

Here is how they compare size-wise:

The Jetbeam with a fresh battery will throw a beam on high that blows away my 3 D cell Maglight with fresh batteries.

I use a Cree headlamp that I ordered from ebay. I haven't had one bit of issues with it. Uses an 18650 rechargeable battery. I usually carry several, maybe 5. First time I went exploring I went draining with my fenix, it over heated and failed and that was my only light!! ended up using my phone until the battery went dead, the light cooled off enough to get us out of the drain. I've carried several light since then.
