ok so my dvd drive died on me no big deal i got a new one and put it in works fine but in the process of putting it in i had to unplug my secondary hard drive. it was broken during a previous tune up to my computer. what had happened was i broke the back of the drive at the power supply cable hook up point. i had remedied the problem with electrical tape and it's been fine for the past 2 years.
so the first time i hooked it back up just now and powered it up everything worked but the hard drive did not show up (can't remember if i had to do anything last time to get it to show up)so i re taped the connection and tried again. nothing happened... the either net port lit up showing that the computer was getting power but it would not turn on. so i unplugged the new dvd drive and the second hard drive and it came on fine.
edit: problem solved. i switched the new serial ATA power cable (with clips) for the old one, it's a bit more snug of a fit and fixed it.

that did not last long. i had to glue it in place. i used hot glue and it worked until i put the case back on. so i still need to affix the cable to the drive with some sort of epoxy. i'm thinking airplane glue any suggestions? what works well in high heat?
