Nice work guys, I'm digging the ectoplasm and face in the last shot.

Seriously, well done.

About the book: At least about 12 years ago, when Capital Iron did some changes,
(I think it was when they excavated to put in the lower outdoor public area), many bones and artifacts were found. A stop work order and some issues ensued, if I remember right, and archeologists were allowed to look for stuff. The whole area is just stacked like a layer cake with Native history. And then our beer bottles, Model T's railway ties etc. I should/will just read the book already.

Thanks! I didn't even notice the face until you mentioned it. Maybe it's the ghost of some long forgotten sewer worker.

That's interesting! I was always under the impression that the main settlement was at Cadboro Bay and they came to Camosack to practice agriculture and trade with Esquimalt. Sounds like it will be an interesting read.

If anyone wants to go to Uplands Midden and do some excavation I'm up for it.

Anyone know of any other good middens that are accessible?

Welcome, blitzkrieg.

I'd be interested to see what you've discovered.

Take the initiative! Get some rubber boots, a good friend and lots of flashlights. Hell, the first time I went I was solo. Very creepy. Post some pics of your adventures here. Check out the Hall of Wonders first.

Go to the archives. Offer some interesting information you've discovered or an old story from an acquaintance. Once you prove you're not a narc you may get some offers.

NinjaKlutz, we'll have to figure that one out. The Darkie is a nice stroll and SourDiesel wants to go back there too. Or maybe that area in Fairfield.

Our good friend Ross Crockford details this sort of adventure on his blog, Unknown Victoria. These places are extremely dangerous, even for pros, so my suggestion is that you read and then re-read the blog post, and then read it again. Then take some time to consider what it might be like sprawled out on the floor of a deep shaft, far from where anyone can hear your pitiful cries for help.

So nooooobs.....listen to Uncle KublaKhan's sage advice. He's got a point.

And here I thought I wouldn't find anything about Victoria's ''underground''.

Amazing thread, there's probably an entire novels worth of info here.

I'm from the island myself, specifically North Saanich, and I'd be really interested in going exploring with anyone willing to let a novice hang around with them.

Anyway back to reading the thread.

Cheers,

Jordan

with the right equipment caving isnt hard and not dangerous ive done lots of rock climbing abseiling / repelling, caving and exploring growing up and from what ive seen not having common sense is the worst danger but in all reasoning going with some one with experience is best

bring a light watch your head and feet and you shouldn't have many problems
