I love my DVDRAM 9.4GB Cartridge loader but I have a fairly vast array of other flavors of drive, but my favorite is the RAM...

I like the old school slot loaders. Especially the ones made to be vertical.

I've got only original PIONEER slot-in DVD-ROM drives...

I have an old school drive that holds 5 cds at once but yet looks like a normal drive (only has 5 tiny little buttons for ejecting discs). Its probably about 24x, I am assuming it was from a cd server as it came in my Dual PII.

Sounds cool, the fastest "CD Changer" I've ever seen was only 8x...

I voted tray simply because most of my machines are tray loaded. However I really don't care.

Someone should design a new slot drive, but the insertion device is based on magnets.... think about it. You could throw a disc from across the room (frisbee style) and it would automatically insert itself.

I wrote this a LONG time ago - Since then I picked up 4 of these: http://www.zipzoom...ProductCode=101566

So now I have about 1TB of Raid 5 storage at my beck and call (Sata and 10k U/W SCSI blend) with Gb ethernet and a total of 5 machines on the network.

At this point CD's and DVD's are obsolete. I use them long enough to burn ISO images to the SAN which I load with Daemon Tools on the workstation when necessary. I haven't burned an actual CD or DVD in about 3 months and am LOVIN it.

This has also been a fabulous combination with www.peerflix.com - once I burned my movies I traded them away for new ones, burned them, traded them....

If you haven't got a TB yet I'd strongly recommend it.

Tray, because if something fucks up you can still paper-clip your disc out

As for a brand, my NEC dvd burner has been the most reliable drive I've ever owned, and it's quiet too!

Currently annoyed with ASUS notebook Tray DVD Combo : ( The best is standard CD/DVD drives, i think. On small devices, like laptops or slim PC's, it's better to connect external device...
