Southeast Asia's most famous abandoned waterpark
Posted on Forum: UER Forum
I never posted this here, since it certainly is one of the most blown up and overdone locations in the world. Still a fun place to go though.

I made a few visits over the years, with the first two back to back visits being not very successful due to reasons. And the last time I stayed at the hostel that literally sits at one of the entrances.

The place has some cool scenes, but nearly every long haired hippie backpacker, Youtube gopro vlogger, and dad jean wearing sexpat has pictures on their instagram from here.

While most accounts of the park just repeat unverified drivel, I made an effort to fact-check most of the tales, as well as outline the park's rise to fame.

Rare photo from the early 2000's:

And then the same feature from the early pandemic years:

And these last two show the result of a place being too famous and attracting too many people. The first one shows a burn mark from someone trying to do a instagram smoke bomb shot.

This place is really interesting to explore. I planned to visit it before the pandemic started.

I planned to visit it before the pandemic started. Unfortunately, I haven't visited it until now. I read a lot of information about this place and watched video reviews on YouTube. On the one hand, it made me want to go there even more. On the other hand, I understand there is a lot of hype around this place. Tourists create hype, which leads to its popularity. I like visiting places that are not so popular. I recently made a trip to European countries. I stayed the longest in Hungary. At https://www.freetour.com/budapest, I took several free tours, allowing me to enjoy the city's atmosphere. Every trip is a little life.
