Whenever I explore, I almost always have someone wear a head-mounted GoPro so I can relive the experience later. It works, but I rarely find the result to be worth sharing. My previous attempts to use a DSLR for video have been unimpressive, but having recently made the jump to full-frame, I decided to give it a try at an easy location.

Now that I'm actually able to shoot decent quality footage, I find editing to be much more enjoyable as I feel like I'm making choices, rather than just trying to salvage what I can. It's also quite fun setting the camera down on a tripod and trying to think of interesting scenes to create by adding movement. This is definitely something I want to do more of in the future.

Shot on Nikon D610 with Tokina 24-70. The secret sauce was installing a flat color profile, which gives much more visual freedom in editing. If you've been unimpressed with your DSLR's video capabilities, I'd definitely recommend looking one up, because it can make a HUGE difference.
