Metal detecting for gold in Arizona. Lots found!
< on 4/19/2021 2:32 AM >

Last weekend we joined a group of folks going out to detect for gold. My friend Kelly and I were there to cook for the folks in our Dutch Ovens. Kelly did get out and find a nice nugget as well. One guy found over 20 grams of nuggets!! Holy cow!

Although this wasn't mine exploring, or Urbex, it sure was a good time being outside. I got to test my back after recovering from surgery and it was all good news. A few more months of recover and exercise and it will be as good as ever!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video!

How's the back? I hope you're feeling 100% (or close) again!

Good times Abby - must have been fun. It's basically free money, at least after the detecting gear is paid for!

Glad the back is "good news" I have 2 fusions in mine (degenerative disk disease). L2-3 was a beast - 10 days in the hospital, a full year wearing a stupid corsete, but was a miracle. 20 years later, it is still pain free. C5-6 was only 24hrs in the hospital, and had very little recovery. While also pain free (6yrs later), I get an irritating tickle in my throat on occasion that will make me cough like I inhaled a cracker crumb. None the less, worth it!

It really was a lot of fun. It does feel like a bit of a treasure hunt. That said, I doubt 1 in 100 make more in gold than they spent on gear and travel. But that's not the point, it's a hobby so the reward is in the search, finding a bit of gold, and hanging out with like minded people.

It sounds like your back is much worse than mine. Mine was the result of a single incident rather than a chronic problem like yours. Thank goodness that your surgeries "fixed" the issue. I've never experienced pain like that before. Even with a walker I could barely move the 10 feet from my bed to the bathroom. I'm sure you know exactly what that is like.

Blessings,
Abby

Indeed I do. Glad you are on the road to recovery!
