Rails and Train Car Critique
< on 3/17/2021 4:31 PM >

These images were took in two different places but had the same relative interest. The photos uploaded to UER are scaled down significantly and a lot of quality was lost to meet the 100K. For the full quality of the photos please refer the imgur gallery.

Thanks for any critique!

Edit: The camera used was a Nikon D7200. The first photo was 3000 x 2400 with a F number of 5.6. The second photo was 5000 x 4000 with a F number of 5.6. The third photo was 2500 x 2000 with an unknown F number.

I always struggle to find any interesting shots of train things. Given my experience, it seems you did a pretty good job of finding shots. They aren't the most interesting, but they're good for what you had to work with. I can't think of anything specific I would really change. Nice work.

nice pics, i like the glow of the sunlight. for the first one i'd just straighten the photo, bc its rotated to the left a bit right now. the third one i like the depth, but the focus is a bit too close to the edge imo, might be better to have that focus point at around 1/3 of the photo from the edge. overall, theyre good pics!

Thank you! It's not the easiest finding things to take photos of around here, especially not urbex related

Thank you! I always thought something was off about the first one. Now I see it... It is just slightly tilted, but thats something I can touch up on in post. I do agree about the focus for the third one and I'll definitely keep that in mind for my next shoot

There aren't bad, so you kinda have to look a little harder to critique.
To me, the sky is a bit overblown, or overexposed.
I'm not a big fan of shot 1 in general. Hard to put a finger on it, just doesn't really work that well for me.
I like shot 2, although a bit boring the lines are good. I would possibly try a polarizing filter to help with the sky, or try a smaller aperture, or faster shutter, but this is probably being picky and more personal preference than critique.
I also like shot 3. I like the close focus, but wish the item in focus wasn't so plain...again, working with what you got, so what do you do. I like the depth. It's a little bright for my taste, but nice job overall.

Thanks for sharing and feel free to judge me harshly in return!

Thank you! In photo 1 it might be a bit over exposed but I’m not quite sure what’s wrong with the sky in photo 2. For the third it also might be a bit bright and I probably should’ve messed with the focus to see if I could make it more interesting. Thanks again!
