Exploring some trains in Baldwin, KS
< on 1/17/2021 5:22 PM >

Hello everyone!

To preface, this is my first time posting pictures to UER, so here goes nothing!

Anyway, I went with a couple friends to explore a site in Baldwin, KS, a short drive from where I live. After hopping a small fence and crawling through some woods, we hit the railroad tracks we were looking for:

And turning around:

Brilliant! Our first car to explore! We quickly headed over:

The claw!

And the other parts of the car:

After we finished with the claw car, we headed along the tracks hoping to find some more stuff. We were pleasantly surprised with this:

But could we get into one of these cars? We attempted the first, or the car with the silver rails on it's side as seen above, but no luck! Padlocks held both ends shut, preventing entry. Maybe I'll go back some day and try to crack my way in there, but for now it remains a mystery! So we tried the next car, or the green car with the 'suck my dick' graffiti.

Bingo!
This car was the first we were able to get access into, and had a nice sitting area. We talked about sitting and taking a photo, but the seats were pretty filthy, so we elected not to.
Now if I'm remembering correctly this car only had seats, but the next car (which was unlocked as well, praise the sun) was quite a sight!

We entered in and came immediately across what I assume was an engine:

With a very large fan above it:

Continuing in the car, we went into a new room,

This room had what I guess was space for mail or other paperwork:

And the room also had this, which I found incredibly sexy:

But continuing on, the rest of this 'engine car' had seats, and the final car we entered was similar to the suck my dick car from before:

But unfortunately, when the night had almost reached it's climax, we saw a sign that ruined everything:

SMH the world is so unaccepting of train fuckers, truly a sad end to a great explore

Thanks for reading!

I have always been fond of railroads and this encapsulates it all. Good photos.

Pretty dope photos. I really like abandoned trains, or just abandoned machines in general. I see you are new to UER. I'm sure that you have read everything as far as Guidelines and FAQ, if you got any questions just look through those. If you got a specific one just shoot a question to one of the Mods or I can try my best to help you out.

Thanks y'all!

And yee Waffles I am a new member, but I've had the passion for exploring for a while now, just recently found out it was a passion others had! No questions atm, but if one ever comes up I'll be sure to ask.

Nice find, and good pics! Good enough for run-and-gun. Ever considered using a tripod to reduce camera shake and perhaps do light painting instead of flash? That may not be your style, ie. you might not want to carry or even use one, and that's fine.

I only ask because you seem to have a good eye for subjects. I love how the "pigeonholes" (mail slots) seem to actually have been used for their intended purpose! As nesting sites, obviously ;)

I’ve never been inside of a passenger train, abandoned or otherwise. Very cool find!
