I recently went to explore a superfund site in the DFW area that shall remain nameless. Outside there was a large sign that said "beware of dogs". I came all that way so I decided to proceed with caution. I made my way around back and found a whole in the fence. But before going through I made a lot of noise whistling, clicking, clanging, and calling to see if I could get any dogs to show themselves. After waiting quietly I saw and heard nothing. I went through the fence and explored the back of the place.
At this point I proceed to the side of one of the buildings and peeped into it through a doorway. I heard a noise which sounded like footsteps(it wasn't). So I retreated back to the edge of the property. I waited and watched and saw and heard nothing. I made my way slowly to the back of the building where I heard the noise coming from.
Right off to the left of me taking this picture I saw a massive german shepherd laying on the ground about 12 ft away from me(he didn't seem to notice me). At that point I decided to leave. Slowly making my way out I ran across two other dogs sniffing around on the ground where I once was. Avoiding them aswell just as I made it through the fence I saw another two dogs. This time one noticed me and let out a few barks. In all honesty the dogs didn't seem that threatening and kinda dumb. But being by myself and spooked I didn't care to find out.
I guess I'm posting this because I usually feel "beware of dog" signs as a veiled threat. More of a deterrence if anything. Also I wonder who takes care of the dogs because the site didn't appear to be accessed anytime recently.
It's also quite unfortunate because there is a lot of cool things on the site and its very untouched.
