Canton SD pool?
Posted on Forum: UER Forum
South of Canton SD is a weird paced over depression in the ground. Ive heard it was a spring fed pool formed in the 20s/30s. 1930s aerials just showed a grouping of trees... so im not sure how true that is. Also heard the pool was built buy this mysterious kennedy guy who also owned the kennedy mansion in canton. i dont know his first name or his story. ive looked.
Anyone been here? anyone know the story? 1.

The builders of it indeed owned the famous C.B. Kennedy Mansion in Canton. The pool was spring fed. Some kid in the early 90's used the pool as his Eagle Scout project, and cleaned the area up quite a bit. No surprise that nature and graffing jackwagons have since reclaimed it...

I heard about that.. i wasnt able to find any info about C.B. Kennedy. I dont think his mansion is super close to this so it seems out of place to me and makes me wonder why he built it. I was unclear about the Eagle Scout project, so thanks for that info. the internet made it sound like the eagle scouts built it lol
Does anyone know approximately when it was built?

does anyone know if the polio rumors are true? that kids with polio and other sicknesses werent allowed to swim in other public areas, so they "built this for them"?

i have so many questions and it seems like nothing about this place was ever documented

Land tract history shows he owned the land. I am sure he built it because of the springs. We all know of the magical healing powers and youth that springs bring! Or did - they don't seem to have the same effect these days, and miracle water is no longer sold. *sarcastic font* I am guessing it was a get away - perhaps there were some buildings on the property once upon a time - I cannot find any info on that. Local library or city hall probably has that info, but old-school research can take a metric fuck-ton of time......
