Wild Deer Blinds

I was in Texas a while ago and saw some deer blinds that hadn't been used in years, maybe decades, in some fields. Are these common any where or was this more of a random thing.

Here in VA there are tree stands and all kinds of sketchy DIY redneck ingenuity stashed in the woods. There's a chance they still get used but I don't really want to find out.

These things are a dime a dozen in rural Texas, you just typically won't notice them because they're meant to be generally out of sight.

This is what people consider "hunting" now. Some deer blinds are pretty elaborate store bought affairs with insulation and storm windows. I posted a photo of one here somewhere that had a satellite dish mounted on it so some dipshit hunter could watch NFL Sunday while waiting for a deer to wander up close enough to shoot.

WV and NC are just as bad. You get the right abandoned home up some holler, and you'll find stands within 50 yards of the back porch. I've seen blinds, stands, sinkboxes and self climbers that ain't ever coming down. If the state hunt's there'll be something left somewhere, you've just gotta know where to look.

My advice though: don't go in them. You leave your scent on a deer blind you'll ruin someone's hunt.

Found it. Was a while back. This ones same county where I live, we got deer all over the place, I got deer in my front yard sometimes. I don't hunt but I might even know the bubbas that do hunt here I don't know. That's the problem with living in a low population rural area everybody knows everybody else.

At any rate, I damn sure wouldn't gonna go snoopin around on some good-ol-boy's huntin lease, even out of hunting season, even if his deer blind has 300 channels of Direct TV including all the NFL games each week.

There was a chair that would've broken if I sat on it and some super old and rusted ammo shells. Other than that it was barren.

PA is just as bad and at the heart of it. My favorites are when people make their old trailers into one 70 yds off their property.

My late great uncle has an old deer blind on his property, I've climbed up it before and it's obvious he hasn't used it in 15-20 years. There was an old rusty fold out chair up there but other than that it was empty. I did get a cool view of the swampy creek area on his land though.

Interesting. Can't say I thought of PA as a big hunting state, but I guess that's just because I've only been around Philly and State College.
