Lot of movement with the equipment, but I love the mood and ambiance of these shots. What were your camera's settings on these and what kind of camera?

I love how all the lights look like big stars. I'm not very knowledgable about cameras but how are you able to get shots like that?

You can see on Flickr the settings, but I use a Nikon D80 with a 50mm prime that goes down to F1.4, but I didn't use that big of a stop for these.

The key to starburst lights is a smaller aperture. I prefer doing longer exposures, and don't like editing as I think that it takes something away from the art of photography. Of course I fix things, but I prefer to get as close as a shot as I want in the end from the camera. This means I often take three or four of the same long exposure.

I get rather bad ghosting when I use my 50 for night shots.

Like this how it is in this picture you posted.

Yeah I see what you mean… Those lights in that locomotive picture are absurdly bright, but I thought the lens flare looked cool in that shot so I put it up. Generally with shorter exposures and smaller apertures I don't get those very often.

That location reminds me of a TV show... I don't remember which one though... Nice exposure work tho!
