The surface plant consists of two very large concrete buildings. An underground tunnel runs the entire length of the first building which is rumored to have been the powerhouse. Directly behind the first building is another, which likely housed the compressors used to supply air to the rest of the mining equipment. Large trees have grown through the floor and the surrounding forest appears to be effortlessly devouring the massive ruins. I did not know this upon my first visit but apparently further east down the road is a long stretch of 240 coke ovens that were used for coal processing. There is also a third structure several stories tall about a few hundred meters north east of the initial ruins. The mine ceased production in 1914.
