Some Phots From Yesterday
< on 8/19/2016 3:58 AM >

These are a few new shots. I apologize for the noise in the photos but I only have a canon Elph 100 right now. Let me know what you think. While I do like my regular daytime shots I love making photos that look like dreamscapes the most. 1.

2.

3.

1 could definitely benefit from a tripod. Also, it's kind of empty; there's not really enough going on.
I really love 2; it has a very interesting composition, and I love the smokestack on the horizon. It could use some clarity and some purple saturation in Lightroom to make the clouds stand out.
3 is decent. It's definitely interesting, and I like the color of the sky, but the bottom half of the image is very plain and takes away from the rest of it.

Actually that's more a symptom of low light than lack of a tripod on number one. My camera gets really grainy and out of focus in low light. I actually like number one a lot and have plans of shooting it again once I get my new DSLR camera I've been saving up for at the end of the summer. There's something haunting about it. The strange blue glow that the room behind it has this dark dream like quality. The foreground on the third one actually looks a lot more interesting when you can actually make out what's going on. I might consider cropping out the bottom area slightly when I do this shot again later in the year. Hopefully I can get another full moon with awesome clouds. I'll mess with number two a little more later. I didn't bother retouching it yet.

For someone who so fervently critiques everyone you have a lot to work on yourself as far as composition, exposure and subject emphasis. I'm not being bitter. I just figured I'd give you some food for thought as well.

You certainly sound bitter! I know I may sound pretty critical, but I'm trying to help, and I figure the more stuff I point out, the more helpful it is. If you have any critiques, I'd be glad to hear them. You can PM me if you'd like.

This is the critique section. Unfortunately there is no slider adjustment bar for how much you wanted or how much you get.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for letting us know what camera you have and your intended upgrade. I'm glad you are having fun and bringing back results to share and that you like.

I also like #2. I also think it could benefit from getting unpurpled on the roof and clouds. Great composition on it.

Toss #3 and thicken your skin or next time only ask your mom if she likes your photos. I am putting a smiley face right here to make you feel better now but I was not joking.

Holy shit what a cunt thing to say to someone who was trying to help. I just looked through his work and it at least seems solid, so your basis for personally insulting him is without merit and uncalled for.

His criticism of OP's pictures are valid, they are blurry and have color grain that makes them not so great from a technical standard. Any decent photographer will look at these pictures and say that. But OP said he was getting a new camera with better sensor and tripod.

Yeah I say things sometimes. We all get in bad moods. And I'm not a he. I'm a girl and I'm full of angry hormones damn it. I fixed this one but I'm not really bothering with the rest. Now that I have my D3300 I can't even imagine going back to taking grainy junk. Thanks for the advice. Here is the finished product.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you are going to take minimal notice of feedback and take offence to criticism then you probably shouldn't post in this thread, if you have some photos you are happy with and want to show others then just post them in the normal photography thread.

#1 looks better with a little of the lower part cropped out so the floor/wall line hit the corners.
#2 is looking good.
Both of the above are lined up and square off.
I'm liking them.

#3 Isn't square off as a result the stack has a little lean to it. It bit better timing with the clouds might have given a better exposure; shoot a lot of lined up, squared off, properly exposed/composed shots to a get a few keepers.
