New to "Real" Photography
< on 1/29/2016 7:42 PM >

Hey guys. I recently got a Canon M10 with the stock 15-45mm lens, so I've been trying to take my photography up a notch. (Previously it was all iPhone, baby!) I just started playing with Lightroom, too, so I'd appreciate any tips on processing. Right now I feel like it's coming out a little heavy handed.

Personally, I like #3's editing the best, although there's something nice about the drama of the first 2. I know they're too magenta. #3 was done last, as I've been figuring it out more. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Either there was a problem with the upload or, you took 3 pictures of green rectangles...

EDIT: Looks like its ok now.

As far as photo criticism, I live in a glass house, sitting on a fault line on the edge of a cliff next to a volcano. I'm not casting ANY stones...

Ulcer - yeah. It's been awhile since I've posted images using BBCode. Got it now.

I'm certainly no expert, but I really like the first two photos.

Love the lighting in the first. The last one is a bit boring to me. Technically it's a nice straight symmetrical shot, but I just don't find the content super interesting. The second I like though I think I would prefer it cropped a little closer without the pole on the left. Love lightroom, not sure what to suggest about it other than to just mess around. Nice set!

Nah, man, these are great. Great tonality in these.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

Looking back, that third one is definitely the most boring of the set. I think I would like it best as a "palate cleanser" type shot in a series of that building. I liked the room a lot in real life because it held a quiet serenity to it - it was so far in the complex that it was almost untouched. Someone scribed their initials on that table in the dust and it has since almost completely dusted over again.

The shot it pretty boring though, agreed. I think that if it was taken closer to the tables and booth in the back there would be more visual interest.

I prefer the first two over the last. The first two have 'style'...and style is what most folks struggle with finding for their entire lives. Good work.
