Archived Threads regarding explorers that have passed away
< on 3/22/2015 2:20 AM >

I may be jumping the gun here, but if you know of any explorers that have passed away and have an archived thread on their passing, then do a search and chuck the link here.

Even if it's not possible to move them back to the Memorial Forum, at least people can check the links and maybe we can even recreate any archived threads?

Who was the guy they built a memorial for in Gary UMC?

He got hit by a train or something. It was a long time ago.

Ryan Nyenhuis from Ontario, fell while exploring in 2008 - not sure if he was a UER member?

Don Dekker (not sure if he was on UER) was an Ontario explorer who died after a fall at an abandoned camp. The exploring community pitched in money and helped his mother buy him a grave marker.

I understand the point of your post, but guess what?

I takes archiving for archiving's sake in order to do so.

So now, we have two or three other folk trying to do the same job as you… And organizing is done in vain. My proposal/ solution is to consolidate the links for all those threads making the same request into YOUR post, right now.

Imagine that. One place.

However, I strongly disagree with not including an actual TITLE for any reference link. People do it all the time.
Therefore, I will fix it here.

Keep in mind, I could not care less about making a better, nice, tidy, expansive list of the relevant archived threads on this topic… But if you guys ain't gonna chime in and consolidate said vital information, then why should I bother helping out in the first place.

Here is an example with a link with a TITLE:

PositivePressure RIP

http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=118435

Here is another example with a link with a TITLE:

Archived Threads regarding explorers that have passed away

http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=118460

And yet, third example

People willing to listen and help others going through hard times

http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=118440

I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what you're suggesting. We can definitely consolidate and tidy these up into a single post as this board develops. But it has literally existed less than 24 hours at this stage... And so far, all the links posted here do already have titles.

Huh? If multiple posts from multiple threads of this forum were ever combined into a single thread, past or present I'd love to see how that actually happened in the past (with an example of it). I'm a noob.

All I was saying is that eventually all of the memorial thread links that we put together here could ultimately be copied and pasted, and organized into a single new thread with one tidy list. I thought that was what you were suggesting? I'm confused...

If people just post generic hyperlinks to all these "similar threads" without any reference to the original link they were inspired by, then how will anyone ever be able to compile them? Nevermind search for them in the UER database? Maybe by "titles", I should have just said "proper tags" instead, seeing as this is 2015.

I included boldface "titles" for my hyperlinks for my previous replies in this thread, but I somehow get the feeling that it's not enough. I give up.

Sorry.
My point was to get the links so if possible Av could move them to the memorial forum (to save Av searching for them).
If it turns out he can't move archived threads to this forum then what DJ Craig said.

It can be made into a single post in alphabetical order that Moderators could update (is there a limit to how long Mods can edit one of their own posts?).

It's just started so obviously it's going to be a bit hectic, but it will quieten down.

Hi Av,
Could you please move Zorga's archived thread when you get a moment?

Thanks

I sent a PM to Av letting him know there are a couple in waiting.

Can anyone think of any others that may be archived?

Doug
