Warehouse
< on 3/13/2015 11:14 PM >

Took a little trip down to Augusta today to check out a great old warehouse. It was my first solo explore, and I felt like challenging myself, as I knew nothing about this building's history or what was inside. It was mostly empty, save for the squatter encampment on the first floor (thankfully no one was home), but I still had a great time and would love to go back at some point.

Criticism/suggestions are, of course, greatly appreciated!

Not to bad! Looks like you have some of your basic composition techniques down.

The photo titled "Welcome Home" is of particular interest. Was there any evidence of homeless people living there? Because that looks like a cross between the hobo symbol for "well guarded house" and "unsafe" or "jail."

Sorry for the oversized image, I couldn't figure out how to shrink it.

As a matter of fact, the first floor did look very lived-in (a few sleeping bags, lots of pizza boxes and food wrappers, cigarette butts, etc). I thought the drawing was kinda odd, but I didn't consider the possibility that it was a hobo sign. Thank you for posting that chart, I'll have to keep an eye out for these in the future.

I love bleakness of the location. The lone desk in one of them is great too, if I were you, I would have worked more with that. Perhaps see what you can do with the natural lighting also

the papers scattered around are cool. As well as the colors in the door picture

I agree the composition looks good, and that is a big one having an eye. Have you ever tried bracketing?

Thank you both! LindaJane, I have a habit of bracketing for certain shots that I like, but I admittedly haven't done a lot of experimenting with elements like shutter speed and aperture. This is definitely something I will put an emphasis on in future explores.
