A few from Birmingham, Alabama
< on 7/27/2014 8:27 PM >

Looking for some feedback on a few of my recent images from a trip to Birmingham. All were taken with my D7000 and Tokina 11-16 F/2.8. Any and all feedback is appreciated! Thanks--

Really nice work! I love the composition in these shots!

I don't know what kind of software you use to edit but you might want to use lens corrections to cut down on distortion and help your vertical lines stay straight.

Thanks! I edit in Lightroom, and if I remember correctly I can correct for distortion somewhere in the menus.

You can, it's one of the bottom menu in the 5.X releases. It's honestly one of the only critique I'd have for these photos as well, they look very nice. I would have centred the subjects in pictures 3 and 5. You might also want to experiment with the WBs, not that any are noticeably off.

It's crazy how Nikons have such signature noise. You mind uploading the higher quality / resolution versions?

The UER uploader jams up on me when I try to upload my full res shots, so i always scale them down to about 70% and export at 72 dpi :/

It gives me trouble too, I always paste the code from flickr. You could try other sources too, but i'd avoid the built-in uploader. That said, it's not usually worth it posting them as PNG either.

Yea, like the post above stated link them on here from Flickr, the UER upload distorts images with that weird resizing.

Other than that they look great

last shot is NOT from Bham btw

I know, I wanted to throw it in there. I wanted feedback on it but didn't think it justified being posted alone.

I need to get in some more spots around town, things are getting stale when I can recognize what is from here and what's not.

post whatever. I'm just messing around

So I can just cut/paste the embed code from flickr?

Exactly. I leave it at the (default?) "medium size thumbnail", and it links you to the original size on flickr. Don't forget to add a line break between the picture and the text, too, so it wraps correctly on the screen.

Here's what it looks like:
