Non-UE critique please
< on 3/28/2014 7:09 PM >

Recently went out on a trip out to Arkansas backpacking and canoeing along the Buffalo River. Camera died a couple days in but I was still able to get these shots. Don't know anywhere else to post photos for critiques and I didn't see any guidelines against non-UE pictures so any criticism is appreciated!

Looks like a sweet climb, good work!

1 looks rather unnatural with its unbalanced tones. The sky looks far more vibrant than the foreground. Did you use a graduated filter in post? Its composition is uninspiring and there are some spots near the upper left corner.

2 used far too much highlight recovery--that's what caused that unsightly aberration on the rocks where they meet the sky. Defringing the blues will help.

3 is vague and lacks a subject.

I really like the 2nd shot of the climber, very interesting and directs my focus to them. The first and third shot seemed a little strange to me. The third lacked a direct subject, though the sky and treeline were beautiful. The first one, again the sky was gorgeous but it just didn't grab my attention. Loved what you did with the colors though! Can't wait to see more!
