Entry: Condemned originally posted by redangelkitti |
Condemned buildings are common to explorers but are a hazard and can cause trouble for some, as it is an offense to enter a condemned building or condemned part of a building unless you are the one repairing said building. The qualifications for the condemnation of a building depends on each city, but follow somewhat the same guidlines (in the US):
a city can choose to condemn a building, but there usually is a waiting period, about 2 weeks to one month, where the owner is give time to speak for the building, or the building will be demolished or auctioned off, usually including the land the building stands on. Condemned buildings must properly display a red condemnation sign no smaller than 10x12 inches, listing city or district under which the building was condemned, reason for condemnation, owner of the building, date condemned, date of hearing, and the supervisor who authorized the building to be condemned. The building will usually have red "condemned" tape around the perimiter. Certain areas of a building or propery may be condemned while not affecting the rest of the property, however the owner can have up to 6 months to rectify the problem before it is reviewed and decided whether the problem has been solved or the dilapidated part causes the entire building to be unsafe. |
