| | | | Vehicular Lord Rick| Posted by Aleksandar certainly there's some mental illness going around in that cult. it strikes me there's plenty of it going around on this board, too... aggressively anti-religious individuals entrenched in their own pathologies, whose grudge against the religious is more about their own inability to cope with negative thoughts, emotions and failures in life, than it is about the beliefs of anyone else. unfortunately, it takes quite a lot of progress to get to the point where you can audit your own confirmation bias, cognitive dissonance and negative affect. participating in straw-man religious forums certainly doesn't help. i'm not religious (and i am a scientist, gasp!), but i find atheism generally to be small-minded -- the product of perpetually frustrated and emotionally unhealthy people whose experience of atheism is more about attacking the beliefs of others than it is about their own convictions. all i've really done here is repackage some of the anti-religious vitriol here, kept the tone consistent to other posts, and turned it back on the originators. not very productive, is it? gives us something to think about. |

It's a club where embittered pseudo-intellectual pretenders pat themselves on the back over how "superior" and "clear-thinking" they are, with a preponderance of straw-man argumentation and parrot-like repetition of imperfectly understood reasoning heard elsewhere. |
