Did you ask permission or just head down there? I've heard (on this site) that the owners sometimes let people go down there if they ask.

The main building is alarmed. If you set it off, it just runs a siren and the cops never show up. I was there a few years ago that was what happened.

I went back about 6 months later and the same thing happened, but this time I went looking for the siren and disabled it. I didn't have much free time, so I left. I went back a month after that and the siren was working again.

It was just sold about a month ago to become a TV studio.

It will be interesting to see if that actually happens.

I was just down there late today, at sunset, and there is some evidence of actual work being done. There were banners declaring it the future home of the tv station, and as it was getting dark I saw that there were lights on inside.

And another decrepit, rotting, fascinating piece of American history is destroyed.

The real destruction happened in the mid-1980's when the interior was totally stripped by an architectural salvager.

Since then, the exterior is more interesting than the interior.

88 is ham radio lingo for hugs and kisses.

I've tried to change the name and the system won't let me, so I'll run with it.

The building got bought out by a local tv station and they are already working on it. We got into it this summer and the motion sensors were already disabled. I will throw up some pictures later

During an unrelated search, I found this postcard of what it supposedly looked like back in the day.

It actually looks like the news station will be keeping much of it intact as well as restoring some features to their original state. I had no idea the center was open for stairs. Lot of neat stuff and pictures in this article:
