Abandoned offices behind the D.O.D building.

There was a lot more to see here but I didn't really have time to scope the place out. It was an unscheduled stop and I was there maybe 15 minutes. Also felt a little nervous about skulking around and shooting pictures that close to the D.O.D.

Those are cool. But I'm partial to old dorms/offices over industrial, but ...its a 51/49 thing.

I have a map from maybe...6 years ago..? Someone marked off all the "good stuff" on it. Has the bakery as one of the sites to explore. I've never seen pix of it, and never got out there before it became that trucking company.

In fact the map is so old it still has Gen Stillwell club thing on there.

Well I mean a map with all the spots that everyone explores, listing what is what. It is actually an aerial shot, that someone 'shopped text onto explaining where and what everything is. About half of the places are gone now though.

Yep, all the good stuff disappeared a few years ago, on the main area of the base anyway. Gotta get out in the wilds to find any real treasures now.

Weidest thing I've seen out there was by the baseball field in the warehouses. Someone left what looked like their entire house stashed in one of them. Clothes, furniture, pots and pans, old letters and cards, you name it. And a friendly raccoon lived there. Looked like a young one though.

Spending the day in Corte Madera Saturday, not that familiar with the area. Is there anything to see within biking or hiking distance of there, besides Golden Gate Nat. Rec area that is? Any info is much appreciated.

Is the large motor home still parked on the property? I want to check this place out with an actual camera on me. For a bit more cover, there are single-track trails on the east side that lead right to the building as well.

There's no motorhome there at the moment but I've seen one around there. It's parked somewhere different every time I see it.

So I'm guessing that by the zero response there is nothing outside of the GG Rec area to explore? I thought there was some history to this area and was sure there would be something around there to do.

There are plenty of things to explore in Marin, just not much in the way of abandonments. I'd offer to cruise out with you but I'm busy this weekend.

No worries, gonna head up to Novato and check out what's left of the AFB.

Wow! talk about redevelopment. Couldn't even motivate myself to take more than a handful of snapshots. The hospital was boarded up tight but looked cool from the outside. Stopped by Purisima Cemetary on the way home but the Poison Oak is crazy there, so I couldn't get very far in wearing shorts.

Yeah, the hospital was locked up tight last time I checked too. Bummer.

Just a few pics from this morning. Went out early. The Sheriff was just leaving as I arrived so I did a little exploring in an "unsafe" area I hadn't explored previously. Didn't find what I'd hoped I would but took these for the record anyway. No post editing.

Snapped these during a short hike on the South side of Ord on my way to the AIT area. My trip was cut short though when I caught sight of a young Mountain Lion. The thing took off as soon as it saw me... sorry, no pics. Didn't wait around for Mom to show up either. Grabbed a couple of skulls from their kill area and headed home. Not the best pics, but these guys were about 200 yards away and I shot these in fading light without a tripod. Got my eyes on the Promaster Travel 4 though.
