I think I'd be more inclined to attend some meets if they started at an earlier time. It doesn't matter to me what time that might be

Noon would be sufficiently early for me.

Everyone who shows up regularly to meetings is okay with starting earlier.

This Sunday, we meet at noon. If we don't like it, we'll change it to something else for January.

Now that the winter is over, and daylight saving time has begun:

Do we want to continue having our regularly scheduled monthly meets at 12pm, or would we rather push them back to 2pm as they were before?

I myself am in favor of 12 - It gives us a lot of time to sit around and discuss our options, and to go explore further distances since we've drained (almost) all of the local resources.

It's also right at lunch time, and our current venue is my favourite cafe and their Paninis and Samosas make for a superb lunch.

I concur with Symph, noon is a good time to meet. Tons of time to explore

I've also liked noon, for all the reasons above. I say we keep it this way.

Now that the winter is over...

I think you spoke too soon!

By any chance, will there be any sort of meetup over Easter? I may be around Hali for that weekend.

The next scheduled meet is for April 5th (Easter) so if you're in town do come join us! There's an RSVP in the events section for it, with the time and location.

This Sunday is the scheduled monthly meet.

The more observant or religiously minded may have noticed that it's also Easter Sunday.

Is this going to cause problems for attendance?

It won't make a difference for me, but I figured I should ask.

Are these meets still happening? I see this as being pretty dead. I'd like to bring the meets back. But in Moncton. It's central to the entire Maritimes.

Wouldn't be monthly, but still frequent. I'm thinking maybe quarterly? Every 3 months with maybe some extra explore meets in the summer?

I'm just gauging interest at the moment. Please tell me what you think.

We talked about this two years ago, when you brought up the same idea. I was opposed to it then, and nothing has changed:

This is a Halifax Meet Discussion thread to talk about the Halifax Meet.

If there are enough people in your area, perhaps you'll be better off trying to arrange a regular Moncton Meet. Start a new discussion thread, and make it happen. Otherwise, we're overwhelmingly Halifax based. A scheduled meeting being held three hours away will be a great inconvenience to a lot of people, and only convenient for you.
If there aren't enough people in your area, but you know some stuff to look at in Moncton and surrounding area and want us to come out a few times a year, I'm totally into that. But it's not what this discussion thread is about. Again, start a new thread and make it happen.

Besides, think about it: if there aren't any people coming to a meet in Halifax, where we all live, why would we come out to a meeting three hours away without a specific plan?
Also, Moncton is central to the Maritimes, if you're only looking on a map. But that's not particularly relevant to what we're doing. What matters is where things are to explore. For that, Halifax is more central, or maybe Truro. But Moncton certainly isn't central for what we do. Unless you know of a lot of locations in the area that we don't, you're asking us to replace our Halifax Meet with six hours of driving for very little reason.
People do actually come to the Halifax Meet, on a semi-regular basis, even if you don't hear about it. New people in particular are more likely to be based in Halifax, and they're certainly not driving to Moncton for a meeting.

To be clear, I don't want to entirely dismiss what you wait to accomplish with this. But what you're trying to do isn't realistic. I'd love for you to schedule a day in Moncton area with some things to look at. I'll be there if I can. I'd also love to have enough people in your area to have your own meets, which we can work on.

Start a new thread, and begin the discussion.
