Hello urban explorers, I'm Brooke. Never actually done any exploration, but that's why I joined, to get started! I want to find as many cool nearby places as possible and maybe find some UE groups I could join or something like that. Not a big photographer but I do want to document my explorations so I'll have to start on that!
More than anything I want to find some old records, documents, journals, or the like in an abandoned place. Even anything personal would be really amazing, and a great reminder that people once used or lived in these abandoned buildings. Can't wait to start exploring.

I'm new to this site, not new to exploring at all. I usually don't take pictures when I'm alone, which is often, but sometimes explore with certain trusted experienced friends who often take many.

I don't know what else to say about myself - never like talking about myself online, it's an image thing (preferring people don't have too many preconceived notions about me prior to contact, I suppose), and bit of a security thing, though there's already people here who could associate this account with the real life person.

One of the things that I get from exploring is material for my writing. Not usually exact point for point stuff, but the feeling. I do it for the feeling. Then attempt to capture that feeling using the cognitive arts, to convey it. There's really nothing quite like being there, but if a film or computer game or story can convey some of the feeling, then that's an amazing thing; if the reader/player/viewer knows the feeling from experience then it can be even better.

I like that there are so many others who enjoy a hobby like this. I'd like to use this site and others to find people who share the passion for exploration, for that feeling. I'd also like to expand my horizons, as my movements about the world are getting more far ranging, and in order to find places and avoid the myriad of pitfalls, I shall consult the wisdom of others.

Hi! I'm Eric And New to this site. I'm disappointed that there are no sites in MT! I'm from the Flathead reservation And am part Salish and Kootenai Native. there's not a lot to do on the res (besides drinking and smoking) and would jump at the opportunity to do some urban exploring here in Montana if there are any professionals willing to school a rookie.

Hi,

My name is Mia and I live in the general Washington D.C. area.
I've always liked exploring around my area and I love abandoned buildings, but I've really gotten into it as a hobby pretty recently.

I have a friend who's in school doing photography and she has a concentration on abandoned buildings, so one weekend we went out and poked around in a handful of houses and some other old buildings and took a ton of pictures.

I know of a couple pretty well-known places in my area (mostly hospitals or old asylums) but we haven't had a chance to visit any of them yet. I know they're becoming more and more popular with kids who are only interested in graffiti and vandalizing, so I'm hoping this community will give my friend and I some insight into the interesting places that aren't quite as popular.

So- this is my first post, and I'd love to post some of the pictures we've taken of the few places we've already been, but I don't want to post them in the wrong threads or anything.
I've read through most of the Rookie Forums & the FAQs and such but I'm still trying to get the hang of the forums so any tips or guidance would be much appreciated.

Hello everyone! My name is Scott and Im a professional photographer from St Louis, MO. Ive been into UE and UE Photography for a long time but recently found a few other interested photographers and started our own little group. Every week we trek around the city and scout/shoot new locations. These forgotten buildings are my playground. I am like a child in them, lol. When Im not doing this I take concert and event photography and portraiture work. Im a huge foodie and a knowledge buff. I love to do as much research as I can on locations and history of the city and interesting things. Here is a few of my recent pieces of UE Photography. Enjoy!

Hello! I am a student in Houston who has been bitten by the adventure bug. As of this moment, my friends and I have only visited 3 spots, but we plan to visit many more.

I enjoy movies, music, books, video games like CS GO and League, and many other things.

When I am not working or adventuring, I can usually be found listening too or making music, reading or writing stories, watching movies, or playing games with my friends.

Time to start padding that post count!

Hi all, I live in northern Colorado and I'm new to exploring. I am a mechanical engineer during the week, and, quite frankly, a full time nerd ;)

I happened to come across someone's visit to a Titan 1 silo complex in Colorado, and after seeing that, I knew it was something I just couldn't not do.

I started planning an expedition out there and three months later my brother and I made the trip and had a great first explore. I'll be making a more thorough post about it in the regional section.

I'm hoping to go explore a few other places in Colorado and potentially meet up with some locals, this seems like quite an exciting hobby.

That's all for now!

Hello all,

I am currently living in northern Colorado and have started to get into urban exploring over about the last year. I have been hiking and rock climbing outdoors as long as I can remember, but I am just starting to learn how cool exploring man made objects can be. This interest started when I saw some pictures a friend of mine posted on Facebook that he took on top of an abandoned grain elevator. It was the view that really got me hooked. I like to take pictures to document places I go and I look forward to sharing them here.

Hello All..

I'm a commercial photographer. Studio work.. products & such.. until recently when the company I worked for came to an untimely conclusion..

This isn't a rare occurrence in my business. It's not easy making a living as a photographer. So, I've gone off & done other things as well.. like construction.. network administration.. even worked in a machine shop for a while.

This time I decided to strike out on my own and after a long absence go back into portrait/fashion photography.

While scouring for locations on Google I came upon your site.

I guess I had forgotten how much fun exploring was! Like a lot of us I'm sure I got my start as a kid.. exploring construction sites and other places I should not have been. Always had a great time doing it.. well.. except for a few years back when I got myself arrested in Moscow Russia.. exploring one of the Moscow Metro lines maintenance depots ( Oops! )

Anyway.. I hope to find more great sites to explore and ( if appropriate ) to use for shoot locations for my work.

I already took a trip to one of the sites in the public DB and hope to be able to update the db when given permission do to so..

Glad to meet you all...!

Hi! I really suck at introductions, but here goes.... I was a member on here several (probably 5+) years ago and I kind of just fell away from forums of all kinds. Anyways, exploring has been one of my passions since I was a young teen, it wasn't until many years later that I found out it even had a proper name. I have around 15yrs under my belt and look forward to many more years.

I started out exploring in GA (where I'm from), then moved to NC (which I love hunting down old homesteads and tobacco barns here), then landed in VA for a while before moving back to GA. I just moved back to NC for the second time a little over a year ago and it seems a lot has changed here in the 4yrs since I last lived here. There seems to be an abundance of new places to replace all of the ones that have been demolished or found new life in that time as well.

I have just now gotten far enough in recovery from major hip surgery to undertake exploring again and I can't wait to get fully back up to par. It's driving me crazy having to go slow and not venture to places that require a major walk/hike or have a lot of obstacles to physically maneuver, but as time progresses over the next few months I should be back to taking on more physically demanding locations again...which are my favorite (never leave home without climbing/rappelling gear!!).

I'm a photographer so the two passions have melded together flawlessly to create my favorite hobby that I've missed while being down with the bum hip. Music, the outdoors/hiking, art, body modification, classic/muscle cars, history & learning, wood/metal working, and rock hounding, are just some of my other loves. I'm also an adrenaline junkie...and that can be a good thing and a bad thing...

Anyways, like I said I suck at writing these and they always end up jumbled and long winded...so if you bothered to read all of that then awesome...if not, I honestly don't blame you because I probably wouldn't have either lol.

Hello All,

My name is TunnelRunner33. I live in the Seattle area, having been here for about ten years. Before that, I traveled for five years in the US military, and I originally came from Western Michigan (in the areas around Kalamazoo and Battle Creek). I am new to both the website and to UE, but have really caught the bug. I already have developed more leads on potential sites than I have time to track them down (something Ninjalicious warned about in his book).

Although I am new to the hobby, I do have some professional experience that I think would help me in urban exploration. I worked as a security guard for five years in various high-rise buildings here in Seattle, and I currently work with homeless adults in a position that is a lot like social work (requiring me to hone my verbal skills and avoid conflict). I am a US military veteran (hoping that will help to give me some slight leeway with law enforcement in the event of a stop), and have never had a criminal record. I am married, and although my wife is not into exploration, she is supportive and has given me the green light to take up this (possibly risky) hobby. I am 36 years old (a lot older than many of the people I've seen posting here,) but am still able to run, climb fences, and so on.

I would love to start meeting explorers in the Seattle area, though I understand it will take a while and a few postings of explorations I have done in order to develop a level of trust with the local community. I will say that I have no objection to other new members in Seattle contacting me, at least to talk about ideas and so forth. Maybe we can pursue our full memberships together!

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire... Tunnelrunner33!

Hi,
My name is Marion, I am 32, I am from south of France and I'll be moving to Toronto next June for at least one year. I am really excited about this new life but quite sad I have to leave behind my dear UE friends... I hope I can make new ones in Toronto and keep discovering amazing abandoned places, this time in North America ! I'll be near Marseille until June if any of you guys happen to be in the area, feel free to write.
Oh and I am looking for a cool cheap/reasonably prices room to rent in Toronto from June, and I'd be more than delighted to have urban explorers as roommates !

Greetings, everyone.

I'm 19 years old, and I live in the Los Angeles area.
I recently found out that exploring abandoned places actually had a name, and so I've been poking around these forums for a few days, and been keeping an eye out for more abandoned places to explore. I've always enjoyed the exploration I have done with my friends, but now I realize I want to do more and find more interesting things.

Hello all!

I spent a good part of my low 20s hitchhiking around and exploring, now that I am a little more grown up and bound to one place I am looking for a new hobby to still "explore". I am very intrigued about places I can find around where I am from to view and explore. Looking forward to making some new friends and checking out some new places!
