Albany, NY. Great site. Like what I see so far.

From Detroit originally and have been exploring for years. Relatively new to the Northeast and serious photography. Lately I have been slowing down to take in the stillness and personality of a site; documenting a lot more than I used to.

Prefer large factories and hospitals.
Tunnels, caves, hotels, amusement parks, and ghost towns are a close second.

Dream explores include Chernobyl and Maccu Picchu.

Experienced hiker/camper
Serious amateur nature/landscape photographer. Just got back from Yellowstone.
Audio Engineer with 10+ years of professional experience.
Indie Filmmaker (Been involved in 5 Films. Urbex documentary, anyone?)
Scuba certified since 1998. Definitely up for an underwater explore.

I got my next factory location targeted.
Anyone wants to get out and explore, send me a message!

Bonjour!
I'm Sam, 28 year old female from Quebec's Eastern Townships, which explains my strange attraction to abandoned barns....
I have a BA in Landscape geography and history, so I guess the whole UE discovery is an offshoot of that. I'm currently a high school teacher and part time writer. (ie, writing boring stuff for companies' products to pay back student loans).
My First foray into exploring abandoned stuff was when I was in the 4th grade and got caught hanging out in the abandoned half of my school (it took them months to find me;) )
I lived in James Bay, so that's where most of my explores have been to-date.
Je parle le Francis aussi.

I'm in Southern California. Been UE since before there was a name for it. As a kid, I always enjoyed going into areas with my friend that we were not supposed to be in. Looking forward to finding more areas in SoCal and more people to UE with.

Hi, everyone! I'm new to this site (of course) and I'm excited to have found a community like this online. I love exploring, and I am fearlessly interested in abandoned buildings. I have a few to share that I've stumbled upon in SoCal around my area, but I'm really interested in checking out some places that you guys have found when I get around to being a regular member!

Aside from UE, a little about myself primarily is that I'm 17 years of age, I live in Orange County, and I'm an art student. I really hope I can meet some of you guys in the future and I'm looking forward to exchanging adventures here on the forums!

Edit: Oh And I'm learning to Unicycle. That's pretty cool.

Hi! I'm Amanda, 23 y/o woman living in Baltimore.

A lot of people seem to be into exploring big locations like asylums and hospitals, which I'd like to get into, but I'm not sure where to go exactly. Tried to get to Fort Howard last night, but saw some guards driving around the gate just as we arrived.

Generally I really enjoy looking around smaller structures - abandoned private homes (usually in more rural areas), dilapidated bridges, sheds and barns, etc. I really like to see all the details of how nature has taken over a place built by people.

Anyone else in/around baltimore, let me know! I'd really like to check out some of the abandoned warehouses and things around here.

Here's a photo I took of a house in Belair:

I have a couple better quality photos on my blog: plusrien.tumblr.com/tagged/abandoned. This should be updated soon! I have lots of things to develop/upload.

Hey all, I'm Matt. I'm new to urban exploration but I've always enjoyed finding ways to do things that I'm not supposed to be able to do. I'm in college right now, in Fort Lauderdale, which as I'm hearing is not a great town for exploring. Well, I guess I won't let that stop me.

Hello peeps, I'm Saishi, 19 and in Toronto. Been registered on the forum for a few months now, but moving to Toronto for University(Ryerson, Film) has been taking up a lot of my time. I just recently went on my first trip here in Toronto, so I figured I should introduce myself. I've been on and off exploring places I'm around for 2 years now, and I'm hoping to do it more often now!
Just sharing some pics that I took: http://mildlyreactive.tumblr.com/

Hi,
I'm George, but most of my friends call me Haystack. I'm from North Carolina. I've just recently picked up this hobby, although I haven't been able to do it much because of school. I'm hoping to maybe meet some more people in my area and hear of some cool places to explore.

Greetings to all, my name is Patrick and I currently live in Montreal. I signed up to this site couple years ago.. and completely forgot about it. Recently came back and lurked a bit before deciding to take the plunge. I've been exploring off and on for the past few years but recently have been doing a lot more of it.

Thing is, earlier this year a buddy and I started up a non-profit project that aims at preserving and conserving historical and abandoned buildings and/or landscapes (we both work in Landscape Architecture) that are neglected and are running a high risk of demolishment -- using 2 to 3-minute long "mini-documentaries". We've gotten immensely positive reaction to some of these films from communities that want to preserve their history (an 18th century church, for example).

The idea is not to out all the good places, but more to protect the ones that would disappear in the short-term. The locations that are in no immediate danger we keep secret to preserve the mystery ;)

Anyway, I'm eager to share the places I've found along the way (urban and rural) and hope to get some interesting suggestions from the community.

Hello-

New to the forums, not the lifestyle. I live in the South Bay (of the California San Francisco Bay Area [GO GIANTS!]) and am looking forward to getting to know other people in the area and see what the can teach/show me. In my mind, I know more than most, but in reality, I am a little UE baby.

Hi All,
My name is George. But, most people call me Haystack. I'm from Huntersville, North Carolina. I've been doing this type of stuff off and on all of my life, but I just recently (as of a year ago) found out it had a name. I'm a college student, and I've been taking classes for the last 15 weeks, or so. The semester is almost over for me, so I'm hoping that I'll have more time to do some exploring. Maybe I'll see some of you guys out and about!

Heya, Knowlop here. Real name's Jordan. I'm pretty young for UEer I would say, turning 16 in a month so I don't have much of an area to explore without having my license. But, I'm glad to get started at a young age so I have even more time to enjoy all this, I've been to two buildings since I started about 3-4 months ago, one a cement factory, the other just an old house. Besides UE, I am a techy person, I enjoy building computers, programming them, and sometimes just relaxing and playin some ArmA 2. So yeah, that is just a bit about me, always interested in some UE if anybody ever wants to meet up.

UE Goals
-Explore first abandoned building [x]
-Access 10 abandoned buildings [] -Explore a very large location [] -Explore a psychiatric hospital [] -Get some sick UE equipment []

Hello, I'm Jennifer! I'm from southern Indiana, around Columbus and Seymour. I really enjoy photography and one of my favorite things to shoot is old and interesting buildings. Besides that, I work at a pizza shop and am going to a local college for web design!

Hi, would like to say hello to all. I just recently learned of this site. I have been lightly exploring for a while, always loved finding old forgotten places to explore. I am also a photographer so I love taking photos of those places. I hope to be able to contribute to the site and learn a lot more from you folks.

Thanks, and see you around the forgotten zones.

Hello! I apologize if I've already posted an introduction somewhere along the lines. I meant to get involved with this community months ago and then got distracted and didn't, but it turns out I registered at the time so... what can I say, it's been a busy summer.

I'm D, I live in eastern Iowa and am into my 4th year of doing so though I am considering moving out to the San Francisco Bay area (it is such a lovely city, and there may or may not be a certain girlfriend who's moved out there...).

I'm a singer, and a writer, and I spent much of last spring and summer roaming about the Midwest gazing at factories and creeping into abandoned buildings and generally trying to find things that are overlooked. 'We' being said girlfriend and I, anyway, been a bit of a shut-in since she went west. But we took loads of photos (some better than others) and made up lots of stories and are, the both of us, continually hungry to stumble upon something new. Which is a big part of why I'm looking forward to being involved here, because I'd like to see more of what other people (often braver than I!) are doing, and hope to meet others and find new spots!
