Tunisia is heaven... for photojournalism

I didn't take my film camera to Tunisia and it was the right choice: I would have come back crying in fury because of the photo opportunities I would have had and because of very limited budget not allot of film to cover them all.
I did borrow a piece of crap digital camera with me and did get some piece of crap shots but at least it didn't cost me a thing and I still have some nice memories (even as low quality as they are). Sharing with you guys just to give you an ideea of the photo opportunities in that interesting country:

I have a few more but I'll add them if people first take a look at these ones and maybe comment on them, the country, the people - someone was saying he's been to Tunisia as a tourist, maybe you can post your shots here...

That second picture made me smile so much. The others are quite awesome as well, but don't feature cutely arranged sheep.

More cute stuff for the lady than:

It's amazing that I haven't seen any dogs in their streets when in Romania it's full of them - but cats are at every corner - and that's great because I love cats and kinda hate street dogs.

You're off my top eight, dude.

That second kitty looks like pure trouble, in a good way.

I agree with EXElent, I mean obviously as Mowgli stated he was just grabbing some snap shots, but the action is all in Condors face, its far more telling then a fairly obscure background. Looking at the crop i can get lost in condors features.

Here's a couple I took, its a bit nerve racking down there after midnight. DTES

I remember the bad old days when the corner of Hastings and Main was teeming with gut-kicked addicts all wandering around on one tight formation, around and around.

You can actually smell people dying slow deaths in a crowd like that. It smells like boiled urine, feces, whiskey, snot, blood, tears, fear, concentrated anger and distrust and one hundred generations of abuse all balled into a collective of a couple of dozen very very sick and addicted people.

I was shooting a doc a few years back, and one of the shots I was trying to get required me to stand in the middle of this scene and let the camera roll.

So there I am trying to be discrete with a $4000 camera looped around my neck, and a sound guy hovering nearby, and another guy waiting in a car parked around the corner with strict instructions to provide an immediate escape hatch should things go bad.

As soon as the lens made it's appearance from underneath my coat, some guy shouted "Get his camera," and I was swarmed by 50 sets of eyes, all turning to look directly at me.

Camera ON, shoot for five of the longest seconds I've ever witnessed, while signaling for the car.

In the end, the shot wasn't used, but I still have the master tape. I revisit that moment from time to time just to remind me of how utterly and desperately First World Ghetto the whole area was and continues to be.

I agree it is, you picked a pretty safe alley, though. I've always liked those long-exposure traffic shots.

Heres a few more, taken last year. Just street shots, nothing fancy, artistic, or with any heavy thought as to composition. Basically whip the camera out, snap the shot and put it away again.

The 100 block East Hastings, south side of the street. I always marvel at how everyone is constantly on the move down there. The addiction is so strong that every purpose, every movement is done with one goal in mind - score more drugs:

This is the same block, only the notorious south lane. The Police were nearby, hence the mass exodus of drug users/pushers/criminals:

And this is one of the local residents, I will not name her, running out of veins that have not collapsed:
