I wanted to post one of my 3D modeling projects because it's a little UE related.

"Survivor 42"-Character Design-3D Modeling
[Note: I'm not an animator so the pose is stiff and not fitted to the bike very well.] The character is done with the poly technique and the bike is done with the nurbs technique. Color and textures were achieved through UV mapping and 3D paint. Survivor 42 is inspired by the movie "The Hills Have Eyes".
Software: AutoCADD Maya, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere.

The video shows the wire frame, complete render, occlusion pass, and a non-rigged/badly posed animation.

It's not the best, but it took an entire semester to produce a 30 second video so I'm just going to be proud of it anyways. :}

This is a promising, albeit not totally successful project. The concept is interesting, and certain elements are a good start. I like the texture used on the ground and the design of the character....

However,

You don't have shadows when the bike is driving, that would help immensely. The tires are a little plain, and could use some tread texture. There are other weak points but I'm assuming you are just starting out so there's no need to be harsh. I've been doing 3D for nearly 10 years and I'm ALWAYS learning new things.

Keep it up and I'd like to see more!

To fail in what you've yet to achieve is more the spirit of exploration than to make no attempt at all.

Thanks for the critique ! I'll have to revisit the project in the fall so I'll definitely work on your suggestions.

Wow, 10 years? Hopefully, after I finish one more Maya class, I can be done with all things 3D.

Oh, you aren't focusing on 3D? What are you studying?

I'm almost finished with a digital media degree. It's a broad collection of tech concentrations.
My focus is in graphic design/illustration.
