So since alot of folks have started sharing thier stories here, I figured I would start an actual thread for it with one of my own.
You have to understand with my group of friends, we all think outside the box. And while this leads to some very memorable games, we can make a DM's head explode because there is just no way you can plan for what we might do. One of our DM's famous quotes was "Uhh... ok... ya'll go take a smoke break while I figure this out." lol. Case in point....
My party had been tracking a undead creature all through these woods before we made it to this plantation like area. After fighting through the creatures outside, we get inside the main room of the house to discover thier boss. A vampire waiting for us. Well, we ended up fighting it for awhile and get some good hits on it that threatened to end the game early. So in a natural response, the DM turned him into mist and sent him down through the floorboards. He would then sit in his coffin and heal while he could to fight us again down there.
Now, we were slightly overmatched is what he figured out, so to help even things out, he planted quite a few traps in between where we were, the door to go down, and the path to the crypt itself. As well as some creatures between us and him including a wraith that could take some levels off of us with a touch attack. And that's when we turned against him.
Our rouge, for whatever reason, was having trouble finding the hidden door that led down to the crypt. Me being the dwarven fighter that I am, I decided we were wasting too much time and that I had a big axe and the floorboards were wood. So I start hacking through the floor. While I am doing this, the elf is tying a rope around me for when I do take the floor out so I don't fall and take too much damage. I bust through the floor, fall down, and take no damage from folks having the other end of the rope. I run over and throw the lid off the coffin and start fighting the vampire. Well, our melee fighters come down to help me out while our ranged folks stay up top and completely out of harms way shooting down onto him... Gaining a bonus from being on an elevated position... In what turned out to be the best possible ambush we could have laid on this vampire. Oh well, the DM figured he would just the critters that he had set up outside of that room to rush in to help thier boss. One problem with that, he had trapped the door and sealed it magically. So they couldn't get in.
So needless to say, it was time to go take a smoke break. lol.

I'll keep my story short. I started a campaign in the Forgotten Realms, and the players sailed from Waterdeep, heading for Calimport, but got pirated halfway there and ended up on one of the islands off the Amnish coast (I forget the name). The island they landed on looked, to the players, a bit like male genitalia, and thus earned the nickname "Stubby Cock Island."
Bastards.

I'll keep my story short. He starts taking hits, then strategy goes out the window when everyone else has to move up close to save him.
Every encounter with an enemy turns into a mass brawl.
