Quarantine-San has a NEW FILM SCANNER

I found a Minolta Scan Dual IV on Craig's List for cheap and snapped it up. Holy crap is it a huge improvement over the mediocre flatbed I was using.

Here's some shots from the Minnesota state Capitol I snapped on my trip to get the scanner. All were shot on Ilford Pan-F at ASA-50 in a Canon A-1 through Canon 24mm F/2.8 lens. Scanned at 3200DPI and tinkered with (minimally) in Lightroom.

For shits and grins, here's a couple of 100% crops from the images. I'm going to try and test some finer-grained film (ASA-32 copy film maybe?) in my F100 with the famously-sharp 50mm F/1.8 and see what the scanner can really do

I kind of forgot about this thread. Moar scans! Again, all shot with Pan-F ASA-50 in A-1, 11 were made with 24mm lens, one with 50mm and two with 100mm. See if you can figure out which are which ;)

Thanks! I think 6 and 9 are my favourites too... 6 is of a European freighter loading Wheat in Wisconsin on Lake Superior and 9 is near a Titan (made hurriedly while myself and a fellow explorer were being stalked by Coyotes).

#13 is a Titan; Unit 1A. The camera was setup in the Fueling Tunnel and I fired about 12 strobe flashes in succession to light the launcher. The poor guy in the Gas Mask got a bit blinded from that I fear

Yokes- The only colour negatives I've scanned so far were Kodak Gold 200, processed at Walgreens. Shot at night. In the wind. And they were out of focus. Needless to say, they looked horrible.

Tullo- Good prints scanned well are probably higher quality than film scans, have you tried that? I used to print everything in the darkroom but it became too much of a pain in the butt and I really wanted to show things off online.
