I was the stereotypical tng fan. I stopped watching DS9 and Voyager after a season or two and did not really invest myself in Enterprise. Because of things mention in the movies, I found myself at a loss in the Star Trek lore. I have been going through DS9 episodes through netflix and have found that what they did was really good. I hope that I find the same thing for Voyager and Enterprise. Was this the same for other people?

Voyager is actually very good. It's actually better than DS9. (DS9 gets a bit boring here and there). I watched all three seasons of ENT earlier this year. I wasn't a big fan at first, but as I started watching it I liked it more and more.

Exact opposite experience for me.
DS9 was consistently the best, having fewer miss episodes than TNG even. They did character extremely well and were smart about keeping plot threads going. It's especially satisfying to watch all at once.
Voyager was awful, having come up with an interesting premise (ship lost in the Delta Quadrant with two different conflicting crews) but it dumped that premise quickly to change into a crew that was always happy and always reverted back to what it was like the previous week. For instance, no matter how much damage they took, the next episode would almost always start with them completely back to normal. The characters became more and more stock and wooden, except the EMH and Seven of Nine. Apparently the behind-the-scenes situation on that show was awful, especially the writing staff.
Enterprise had its moments, and I think did some things perfectly, then messed up other things. Also, Enterprise had four seasons.

i'm coming from the old school... saw EVERY original episode 100 times, went to every one of the original movies when they came out and was a devoted TOS fan. The Next Generation was pretty damn good considering the time period and the constraints they worked under. You have to admit that as the series went on, the cast was definitely ready for a movie of their own.

I think the problem came after Roddenberry died....TNG had an awesome cast that actually worked with him, and they carried on the legacy. Even though Trek people worked on DS9 and Enterprise, they were without the creator and had license to go away from the exploration and do whatever they wanted.
DS9 and Enterprise suffered from having to be "cool" and having to cater to what they thought would gain an audience - basically, more battles, things blowing up, and less classic trek storylines and exploration.
I remember watching one ep of Enterprise, where the character was stuck with some alien and he was talking about all these fantastic things he'd recently done on Enterprise. I just thought, wow, those all would have made good episodes.
I grew up on DS9. The first 2 seasons were awesome. Then, it just fell apart for the reasons posted above. Voyager got back into the spirit of Trek, but I think the casting really had little chemistry. If there's no chemistry, it makes the show that much harder to believe or watch. TNG and DS9 had the chemistry - Enterprise and Voy, IMO, did not...
