If you're looking to retreat back into analog photographer, the older the SLR the better. I've shot on a number of 35mm cameras and the older ones always have less issues and work for longer. I had a Ricoh from the 80's that bricked after two rolls of shooting. My Minolta 101 for 1968 however has been a hand-me-down from a family member and it works flawlessly.

I'm considering upgrading to a new camera, and I'm looking for something that's decent in low light in the $50- $100 range. Any suggestions?

A Motorola Moto X4. Unfortunately, it doesn't do well in low light conditions- or if it has, I haven't figured out how to make it.

Decent is a relative term. What do you use now and how much better would you like it to be. A camera that's "decent" in low light will probably be 200-300. A nice light would probably be a more cost effective solution, but it depends on your preferences.

Honestly, I would try to make do with your cell phone camera. Like ryanpics said, you're going to need to venture into the $300+ price range for a better low light camera.
You'll need a tripod and mount for your cell phone, such as this one. https://www.amazon...sr=8-1-spons&psc=1
You'll also need an app which allows you to manually adjust camera settings. For iOS users, I highly recommend ProCam. A quick search for similar Android apps turned up these: Camera FV-5 Lite, Open Camera, and ProShot.
These apps will allow you to manually adjust ISO and shutter speed, allowing you to capture better images in low light. They still won't be perfect due to the phone's small and fully digital image sensor/lens, but they'll be much better. The tripod is necessary as the phone's "shutter" will be "opened" longer. If you try to shoot handheld, it will be blurry.

That's actually a good idea. I never thought to just do the above and continue using my phone for urbex photography. I have an iPhone X - do you have any phone lenses you'd recommend? I'm definitely interested in a wide angle lens. Is there any other kind of lens that's helpful to have?

I've tried a few and they destroy the quality of the photo, especially with the nicer camera on the X. There are a few out there that seem to have pretty good image quality but in general, putting a lens on a lens will greatly reduce the quality.

I've been looking into getting a Fuji X Pro 1 since I'd like something more compact and I really like rangefinders. I figured this would be a good foray into the mirrorless realm, especially since the price as nice. Does anyone have any experience with this camera?

Any thoughts on the new Sony A6600? I'm looking for what will probably be my last camera system. I've been shooting on an old Nikon and figure it's time to upgrade. Although I started photography in the early 70s and love DSLR style cameras, I'm leaning strongly towards mirrorless.
I want to do photography and video, in about equal measure. I thought about the Panasonic GH5, but I am put off by the video autofocus issues. Another at the top of my list is the Sony A7III. Amazing camera, but the the cost of the body and lenses goes up pretty significantly. And it doesn't have any form of forward facing screen, so not real good if I want to do any solo video in front of the camera. That has lead me to wait for the A6600. I'm OK with the APSC sensor and lens selection. I like the idea of IBS for video if I pick up a unstabilized lens.
I've been stuck in analysis paralysis for a while now just watching the different manufacturers release camera after camera. Some are pretty close to what I want, but I haven't found the camera that ticks all the boxes.
Any thoughts?

I have had numerous Sony products including a cam.
The cam and all of their products I witnessed are a mess inside. I've had all my Canon's apart, good build and serviceable... not Sony!!!
My advice; avoid Sony!
Sony support sucks and mind you I'm one of the few who's gotten a full product refund check from corporate Sony as well as talked to a Sony VP in Teterboro.
Bottom line, Sony is rotten to the core.
Goggle Sony Walkman lawsuit, Wiki... they've been bums for decades now.
Go with Canon or Nikon.

I haven't really done any research but the a6600 and a6500 seem to be speced almost identically. I've only used Sony and they seem to be fine to me. I haven't had to use their customer service or fix anything on my camera either so I wouldn't know much about that. I have the a6500 and it works great. The battery life while shooting 4k is terrible but I can still go a full day of shooting stills and never kill a battery. I would totally recommend it, but a new camera will probably come out soon that's got even more features. Just keep an eye on everything and see what happens.

I don't have any experience with the a6600 specifically, but I had an a5100 that I loved to pieces, and I'm sure their smaller cameras just keep getting better. The a5100 was enough that I all but retired the bulky full-frame Canon 5Dii I'd been working with. This was supposed to just be a little thing to carry around a little easier or for casual shooting, I didn't expect it to be a replacement, but it damn near was. (Obviously, there are things the 5Dii does better.)
Following that I did go in on the a7III and it's been wonderful. I don't have a ton of dedicated glass for it (but there are adapters for just about everything to hold you over) and that put the final nail in the 5Dii's coffin. The screen won't tilt QUITE forward enough for selfie videos, or whatever, but it's got a pretty decent smartphone app that should take care of anything you need there. (Full disclosure, I found the app worked a little better for the a5100.)
That said, it IS a pile of money, but at the same time it pushed down the price of the a7II series...

I just use my phone. mostly because I cannot afford an expensive camera.... so I just opted recently to buy a good phone with a decent camera.
My first was an Alcatel Dawn. Decent budget phone with a decent 5mp camera. nothing too terribly impressive but it wasn't awful either.
Second was an Alcatel Idol 3.... Trash phone.
Third was a Motorola E5 Supera. Loved that phone. had a laser focusing 12mp camera and a decent flash. did pretty good in low light however it added it's own character to the photo in the form of "red noise".
Fourth was an LG Stylo 4.. Crap phone. camera is OK-ish. the phone is sluggish and glitchy.
Fifth and current is an S10E. Love the camera. it has both a 12mp wide angle sensor and 16mp ultra-wide angle sensor. I've noticed that the wide-angle sensor works better than the ultra-wide angle sensor when it comes to low light. the ultra-wide angle sensor does good with "showing a full view".

Do you absolutely need 4K video recording? Otherwise the A7II would be just about the same price and is full frame. The A7III would be nicer obviously....
You can either get a zoom full frame lens that's basic or a couple primes and you'll be set. I just got a zeiss 35mm AF lens for $240. I prefer my manual focus adapted vintage lenses but for videography where you're shooting yourself that might be tough depending on your intention.
I enjoy the sony bodies in general. I have an A7II because I care more about the photos than video. My buddy has a NEX-3 which is good for his needs with the kit zoom lens.

Having owned both the a6000 and a7III, I would say go for it! If I didn't care for full frame, I definitely would have gone for that camera. The a6000 was insane for what it's worth, and given all the new tech that sony has put into the a6600, I would highly recommend it. Sony's APSC and mirrorless cameras are amazing cameras, I've absolutely loved both of mine.

Thanks for the feedback. I did get one and I'm really happy with it. It ticked the boxes that I need since small size and good video are high on my list right now. One of the features that I wasn't expecting is that it shows whether the camera is level in two axis. It's great when I mount it on a tripod and want to make certain that I don't have the horizon askew.
This past weekend we headed up to our mine in central Nevada. After the earthquakes I wanted to make certain we didn't have a dusty hole in the ground where the mine used to be. I used a GoPro 8 with a Aperture video light for my first try at underground video. My initial impression was that it takes good video even in that those conditions. Plenty good for YouTube.
I thought of taking my A6600, but underground is such a dangerous environment for cameras, I think I'll stick with the GoPro for now.
There are so many amazing cameras out right now it's hard to pick the right one, but most of them are so good you can't really go wrong.
