Damn the scamming programmers of this nasty-ass malware! Damn them all to Hell!!

They are getting pretty good at this game, I have to say. Lots of the legitimate antivirus programmers seem to be having a hard time keeping up.

This newer one is pretty bad, the first time I was infected I removed it completely. Infected a second time, I was able to disable it but it still tries to start up and I keep getting the 'send error report' message. I'll just have to take a few hours this weekend and clean it up, it's never a quick process.

I don't get it. I've been on the internet for 18 years, I almost never run antivirus software, only occasionally run an anti-spyware scan, and I have never gotten any malware or viruses.

the teachers at the schools I work in keep getting it because they click on god knows what. sometimes we can get it off with anti malware bytes other times we have to reimage to make it totally go away

Don't trust limewire, ever. Use bittorrents. For music use soulseek and google blog search. Most efficient and safe forms of piracy out there.

Limewire is a cesspool. So is pirate bay. Demonoid was excellent, but has been out of service for several weeks. The private torrenting sites are typically the safest

I know about Demonoid...makes me sad. I miss it. But there's a few guys out there that are still putting stuff out that's worth downloading on the public sites...like a guy named HolyRoses. Noninfected material and always high quality. Shael

Torrents are the shit. If you have WinRar. You can usually find 95% of the music your searching for on a google search. People upload em to sites like Megaupload,Mediafire and Rapidshare. Or Blogspots. Usually a search on google like "Band name Band Album Megaupload" Usually turns up good results. But I believe the anti Virus companies are coming out with the viruses and shit..

QFT. Limewire is one of the worst offenders out there.

Just as an added disclaimer: illegal software or anything you else you run or install as an executable you get from bittorrents is a common method that hackers use to deploy rootkits. The illegal software is simply the honeypot.

the demoniod tracker is back online! i just checked my demoniod session on my torrent server, and it connected to inferno.demoniod.com. the front end is still down, but things look much more promising with the backend up and running again.

Really it's probably best to just reimage the machine when they have an issue like that since it's the only way to be sure that the machine is no longer compromised. That's our policy for letting a machine back on the network once it's gotten a virus/bot/trojan/malware/etc and a lot of people complain but when we mention the number of cases we've seen where antivirus/malware didn't get everything and people's credit card/bank account/etc info has been stolen they shut up and reimage. The time spent reimaging usually ends up being less then the time to properly clean a system as well.

The place I used to work at had 3-4 sales guys that would be in getting their laptops reimaged by the IT staff on a almost weekly basis, it was crazy. The sad thing is that it was a computer security software company and that these sales guys would have a bit of a clue.

Sales guys think they can get away with anything, since they bring in the revenue, have expense accounts, etc. They usually do..... Policies and procedures don't apply to them.......until their numbers start falling.
