Looks like the chain is supposed to be around the wood post but someone got to lazy and didn't want to always unlock it, lol. Stupid lazy fat Americans. (munches on Doritos's)

Actually, what it looks like to me is that some explorer undid it and wanted to make it look somewhat untampered with. *shrugs*

Dude I love that show, I vividly remember that episode waaaay back when Locke wanted to go on the walkabout but they wouldn't let him go, and he started yelling

"Hey, hey, don't you walk away from me... This is my destiny.....Don't tell me what I can't do.

THEN see the camera pan around and he's in a wheelchair.... so fucking epic. Got me hooked from that instant.

And when you finally disappear, We'll just say you were never here.

We went to an abandoned hospital - it had recently (less than a year) been abandoned, quite a new building (I guess late 70's but with a renovation in the late 90's), and everything had been boarded up, quite professionally. Also, there was a large stair to the 1st floor (2nd floor for americans) gallery, which was blocked off. It looked very amateurish at first sight, but I was not able to get around it.

However, we found 3 separate ways in, and created a 4th on the way out:
- The first guy climbed on a pallet that was already placed around a wall, onto the roof of a 1-story part, then the same way 1 more story up.. Then used a tiny (10 cm) ledge to climb around the gym hall, which had an open window. Entrance. The ledge was too scary for me though.
- I used the stairs to go to a small 1st story landing, then stood on the hand rails to get on the roof. All the windows looking out on the roof weren't boarded up, one was even open.
- Person #3 was a little more obese, and 55 year old, so a little less agile, and couldn't get up my way. He said to us we should get in, and he would look around. Later he called us, telling he had found a way in, using a similar method as #1 (pallet to wall to climb on roof) then #2 (open window looking out to the roof.

Both entry method 1 and entry method 3 used a pallet which was plainly visible, and this site was patrolled regularly by a very active guard (who we met). A good guard would've seen that and got them away...

However, method 2 wasn't really visible as it only led to a landing with a closed door.

The method we opened up was a door where we put a screw in the pocket of the bolt (door side). The door had no handle on the outside but jammed shut, but with some force you could jiggle it open.

Later that day we visited a location where at first sight, I thought "that's easy access" (only old fencing) but we've surrounded the entire perimeter, and found that it was nigh impossible to enter without having to check your tetanus first (very strategically placed assorted rust and/or barbed wire)

My father has an axe sitting on the shelf of his office, between the envelopes and the 2008 unpaid bills.

They say it's for cracking the ice on the pond (so the fish will get oxygen)...

'To keep the Gypsies out' explained security. We went back two days later, the site is overrun with 'travellers' [pikies], calmly stripping the lead and copper from the site.

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

Wherever there is lead on roofs - wherever there is copper pipe to be scrapped, basically wherever there are things that can be stolen and fuck everyone else but me... YOU WILL FIND THEM!!

Widespread rumors of black helicopter patrols, fleets of large trucks in the night, armed guards swarming in dozens to arrest people out walking their dogs.

Hah, just kidding. A gate across the driveway; large, dark, wooded grounds; and the werebuck. Oh, the werebuck.
