Talk about a badass/fun patrol unit, 300HP, 18" of wheel travel, the only thing that could make this better, would be miniguns, and air conditioning.

Saturday I made an illegal turn to pull into a gas station and while I stepped out of the car, a police K-9 unit car pulls up next to me. Fortunately, just to get some gas, I was wise enough not to ask whether they came for me

Lest week I saw an ambulance at high speed stop for an intersection and pull up again. I don't know what they are, I think they are chevrolet vans, but the sound when they pull up is amazing. GRRRRROOOOOOWWWLLLLLLLLLLL

I'm trying to work out if you took that through a fence, or out the back of a paddywagon

Through the window of a moving car.

I'd be hard pressed to find a police car in my town, though I'm told they come through once a week. Our police station is actually just an office where a lady comes in and answers inquiries on that same day of the week. Yeah.

I wish I had pics of this, but Albany County in New York used to have a Z06 Corvette that was done up in Sheriffs' colors. It was a siezed car and had the usual stickers all over it. I'd usually see it on NY 7 between Troy and I-87 or on I787 going through Albany.

you know the cop driving was thinking, 'someone run, PLEASE!'

I heard some noises while checking out an abandoned school, we decided it was time to leave, looks like local law enforcement was ready to pounce.
ROTTEN BAT RASTARD!!!
Shot some photos as we left, hocked a loogie on the seat.

Quick question for the US car freaks.

Why is having a 'HEMI' such a big deal? Hemispherical Combustion Chamber, right? These have been common place for what, like, twenty years?

Why the fuss (still)?

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

it was a marketing ploy because the original Chrysler 426 V8 was such a feared weapon. Personally, the new Chrysler V8's are a joke compare to the V8's from General Motors and Ford.

by the way, for you non-auto enthusiasts, hemispherical combustion chambers offer a better combustion pattern than the dated 'wedge' chambers.

They CAN make a difference in a Petrol engine; IF it's designed from the ground up to make use of the design, yeah. A good compound valve angle is essential for maximum power I gather.

It just sounds a bit strange to me, like mentioning my car has COIL SPRING type suspension... Sorta like boasting about nothing?

The old Hemi from the 1960's used to instil fear into opponents on the street or on the drag strip, 425 horse power right off the showroom floor was nothing to be scoffed at. The big three auto makers used to downplay horsepower ratings to keep insurance rates down for buyers. So you wound up with more power then you thought you were getting.

Insurance companies eventually caught on, which sucked. Cars such as Yenko's and COPO's became uninsurable due to their huge power numbers. The Yenko Nova with the aluminum 427 was a complete beast, but was killed by insurance regulations.

Oh yeah, it’s a real piece of shit. 340 Hp that’s gets 23+ MPG with all wheel drive and a life time warranty. I mean, like who would drive junk like that, it just a marketing ploy.

GM is turning out so many winners in the mid range performance range lately that they cant keep them in the show rooms,

or is that because they are going bankrupt?

GM is clearly the winner here. I am humbled.

For a police car, I can understand, or if you're into lumber business, but who else really needs that power? I have a 90 horsepower Golf TDi and I have more than enough power. My car is superefficient (about 1:22, about 55 mile to the gallon) and I very, very rarely actually *need* the power.
