I know Toad will love this http://www.buffalo.../story/419611.html Yup, on Aug 29, New York State will make an annoncement about if the State Wireless Network will still be using M/A Comm's OpenSky system. My prediction is no as well, the rollout and tests in Erie county was a disaster to the point where the county just pulled off their network. It was complete diaster. And a little history too about why NYS picked M/A Comm: New York State usually picked GE radios as they were a New York state business they were put in a good price on a bid for a radio system over Motorola. A lot of county and city agency repeaters are still GE units because of this. However, M/A Comm I think will pretty much kill this business relationship that spans over 3 acqusitions of the Radio Division of GE.

And the word is...YES....OpenSky is DEAD in NYS!

tycOWNED. (Seriously, I trust trunking radio systems only about as far as I can throw them. Since I throw like a girl, well... that's not very much, or very far.)
