Security Gates

First off, I am NOT planning on breaking and entering. If I were, I'd just climb over the gates.

My question is this. We are trying to secure a gated community in my area. Some of the homeowners are concerned about unauthorized persons using some sort of device to gain access to the community. Does anyone know of a device which will open all gates? Some sort of frequency searching unit? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

A lot of the gates that I have seen have both a remote like a garage door AND a keypad. If I needed to I would go in on foot and disconnect somebody's cable and wait for the cable guy to show up and punch in the code that the homeowner gave them over the phone to open it.

Of course that is based on my assumption that it has a keypad. If it does not then I believe most of these gates have a pin that releases the gate from the motor so that you can walk up and open it manually.

The best way to secure a neighborhood or housing community is to have a guard shack with a guard in it. Of course there are ways around that as well.

Well hombre, I live 60 miles from the Mexican border, and in Meth Central.

Its not my gated community. This is some paranoid rich people, who want total security. They already have a security guard 24 hours a day, plus the gates, plus motion detectors in the neighborhood. I am simply under contract to give them extra security.

If they have a guard to man the gates, why is unauthorized remote access an issue? just have the guard check IDs, contact the homeowner the visitor is heading to, and if cleared open the gate manually. Owners just check in and out with the guard.

I'm not quite sure why its a problem for the residents. I don't know if the guard periodically makes security patrols and is away from the gate, or if it is something else.
