Any one know what the security situation is at the Beth steel site in Lakawana?

I haven't heard it is any more difficult now than it ever was (sundays recommended).

So, it is somewhere between almost noting to alarms and lots of security. Glad to help.

Go sunday, and you wont have much trouble, keep your eyes out for a white truck. I've never had any problems there at all, I've been there 4 times in the last 2 months.

What about the time we nearly got nailed by security a few months back. We got lucky that he turned left without looking both ways at the intersection.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

There's no guarantee that you won't run into somebody on Sundays. When we were there a couple of weekends we ran right into a guy who happened to be doing some routine work. He simply told us that we should probably be leaving, but not before answering all our questions we had about the place. He was a nice guy as are most of the people working there so long as you're up front about what it is you're doing. Other times I've had pickup trucks drive right by me without even bothering to stop and say anything. So yeah.. there are people there on Sundays, but don't let it prevent you from going to have a look for yourself.

That said, all the times I've ever run into anyone there have been while on the West side of the shipping inlet. If you stick to the structures closer to the main road, you should be ok.

Oh yeah.. apparently there's 24 hour security over by the wind turbines now. They've built a gatehouse for this at the far end of the property so you'll probably want to stay away from that area.

Doesn't look like much has changed. Over on the other side though, the pump house is almost completely gone. It's essentially just a pile of rubble with a roof over top of it.

Too bad, that was a great building. Last time I was there (a year ago?) there was a nice big pile of asbestos inside the south door.. didn't think it had much longer left. Still sucks to see it go, though.
